Soon I will be working for Crispin & Porter + Bogusky (CPB Group) and will be moving to Boulder, Colorado. Right now, I need help with Univeristy Of Colorado. I need to know if anybody attends this school or if anybody knows anything about it.

If they have a good curriculum, what programs are better than others and how is the town in general? The reason why I need to know this, is for my girlfriend. She will be moving with me and will be transferring over to Univeristy Of Colorado. The programs she is doing is: Psychology, Theatre and Communications, basically she's triple majoring. The university has all three, but she's just wondering which one is better than which.

The schools website for transferring is:
http://www.colorado.edu/prospective/transfer/index.html

We have been looking it over for a while now, but I need to know for sure from people that actually experienced it. Any help is possible and thank you for taking your time!

I'm from Boulder, and it's a nice town. It's very liberal, lots of hippies, dominantly white with a decent amount of Asians. Not many black people, some Mexicans/South Americans.

Psychology is pretty good at CU Boulder, not sure about the other two. The university's pretty nice, but it's also a "party school." Very easy to get marijuana in Boulder.

It's pretty much in te country I guess, very different to a big city feel. Denver is 30 minutes away but there's not that much to do there.

No, but I've been around, took a few classes there, and a lot of my friends are there.

Oh CU also has decent engineering (physics and chem) if you're considering that for anything.

Hah, my girlfriend hates math, she wouldn't go anywhere near those subjects. But yea, I will be working with the CPB Group which is like 14 minutes away from the school. I already checked :D

I think Boulder has the highest concentration of lesbians in the nation?

Don't quote me, though.

It's mostly what carnivorous said. I just got in the school and it seems to be pretty good so far. I can't say much about other departments because I'm in engineering and it's pretty isolated from the arts and science department.

I went there, I had a great time. Once again though, I went to the Engineering school, which is on the other side of campus from most of the Arts and Parties departments. I took a psych class once, and the teacher was actually really good, which is rare for the classes that were the 300+ lecture.

Currently attending CU, in the engineering program. The school has a great psychology department, but not a great theater department. Not sure about communications.

Boulder itself is really expensive. There's no wal-mart. There are no donut shops. It's inhabitants are very liberal.

In the 70s the town passed a law prohibiting new housing development. So, every single house in boulder is at least 30 years old. This actually is pretty cool, because it really stands out from the rest of the Denver-metro area aesthetically (See: Highlands Ranch, Aurora).

The school has a large number of football fans and there are a lot of fraternities and sororities. There are also a lot of out-of-the-ordinary people (hippies, etc), but they are predominantly white and native to Colorado.

What's been said about the weed and lesbians is true, to the best of my knowledge.

There are also a LOT of bums. I think there are a lot of yuppies in Boulder who feel sympathetic for those old bastards, so they are able to make a decent living leeching off of people. I can't complain though, as they are great for getting alcohol if you're under aged.

Well, it's not terrible. I'm not sure of the specifics. Most of the kids who were into theater in my high school went to the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, so I assume that they have a better theater department than CU.

The thing is, I don't think UNC has a better psychology department than CU does. If you're planning on being educated in a wide variety of fields (like your girlfriend), CU does cover pretty much everything. It's a really big school compared to the other universities in Colorado, so it's more likely to fit your needs if you want to learn about many different things, or if you are not sure what you're into yet.

Yea, I saw that on their site. They really do offer a lot of varieties in education. I was wondering now, what do people usually do for fun? Movies? Bowling? Is there a Target?

Boulder has a movie theater and a target. There's a bowling alley about fifteen minutes away in Broomfield. Most people here are really into out-door activities. There are a lot of bike trails. The mountains are really close and lots of people like to ski and snowboard, hike, camp, stuff like that. There are a few parks oriented up and down the river that runs through town, and in the summer you'll find a lot of people inner tubing in that river.

Downtown you'll find a 5-block long outdoor mall with lots of stores and restaurants. I personally think the restaurants are the best part about Boulder. For example, you can order sandwiches or pizza to be delivered to you until 3 am. Boulder also has the best bus system in Colorado, which is a plus for me because I don't own a car

Oh yea! I love outdoor activities and my girlfriend really hasn't been able to try any, so this will be a golden opportunity. Is it ever warm in boulder? Are there any beaches? Food delivered until that time?! What?! That's amazing, I can live with that. Well nice about the buses, but I still hopefully will own a car of my own.

Sorry about so many questions, just wondering before I head over there

For all practical purposes there are no beaches in CO. I might've
been to some random lake/half artificial one but it pretty much sucked IIRC.

It gets very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. A lot of sin - about 300 days of the year is sunny. A lot of snow, but Boulder is odd/cool in that it can be snowing and five minutes later be sunny. It's also extremely dry.
