Well my disc stopped working so i used the blizzard downlaoder with my legit cd key. Ok so it took like 5 hours to download the stupid game from blizzards stupid site. After i patch the game i get this stupid "storm_error" message. Wtf is this? Ive gotten this in the past but after uninstalling and reinstalling it would usually fix it....not the case now. Anyone else ever have any problems downloading the game from blizzard? i still cant play

i'm not entirely sure, but i know there is a storm.dll in the sc directory, and i think it has something to do with patching. try downloading the exe patch from blizzard and patch your sc then see if it works.

edit: oh you did try to patch it... i don't know then :p

No i emailed them and got a cut and paste bs email about sound cards and drivers. The error happens right after i patch the game online.

I have heard of people getting errors when trying to patch to the latest version form the downloaded version. I dont see why Blizzard wont just upload the current version instead of making everyone patch. I dont remember if there is a solution or not. Good luck.

im not sure it has to do with downloading the game either...cuz my discs were working a month or so ago and when i installed then...i still had the storm error. Uninstalling and reinstalling a couple times fixed it. However, its hard to do that now since it take 5 damn hours to DL the game from their site. I hate blizzard so much and all their buggy shit

EDIT: now when im trying to do the stupid 5 hours download....on the account management page im getting a 503 error. Wont even let me get to the page. It worked last night. Error....error.....error.

i used to get this a long long time ago. for me, it was caused by the one of the protoss or terran songs. i either had to play with the sound turned off, or had to play zerg (eww)

i got a new cd and never had a storm error since.

I had that same issue before and never got it to work when i had windows vista. I have windows 7 now and i reinstalled sc and it worked fine.

hmm i remember having an error after reinstalling warcraft 3 onto a reformatted pc. I had to change the install path in the registry. Not sure if this has anything to do with it I thought I'd atleast share about it.

I have had the same problem with the digital installation, blizzard's support forum didn't have answers. I finally managed to get the patch to work by starting SC with chaoslauncher and then going on bnet, I don't know why this worked though. It could be that it failed at properly downloading the patch and it just randomly decided to get the whole file the time I started SC with chaos, or it happened because I used a different gateway idk.

If you downloaded SC from Blizzard you should still have the installer on your computer unless you deleted it right after installing.

SOLUTION!!!

I knew this problem was with blizzards stupid site and had nothing to do with individual comuters, driver, sound cards, or some other BS like they were insisting. I simply downloaded the patch from iccup in 10 seconds and it worked perfectly no more storm error. To anyone else that has this problem this should work as i was getting the storm error 100% of the time trying to patch manually on bnet.
