Let's say there is a Multiverse

So there is a Multiverse, if so how does it work if there is a universe where the American Civil War was lost and the South was victorious if so can anything exist between then? Let's say I am eating out I finish my meal and am offered dessert I stop and think, now if there is a Multiverse then it makes sense that one of those Universes cannot exist due to the fact that I have to decide, yes or no. Or what if I have a question regarding whether I should rob a bank, or get a H1N1 shot, anything really.

During that time does the "Yes" universe exist, as well as the "No" universe exist. What happens to those forms of existence is one destroyed, or does it coexist with my universe now that I settled with a decision?

If I'm understanding your question right, the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum physics would say that the "yes" and "no" universes would exist in parallel, while the slightly more popular Copenhagen interpretation would say that the decision "collapses" into "yes" or "no".

It coexists with yours. Basically both forms of the universe exist, (the yes and the no) but it doesn't matter because nothing can travel between them so nothing is affected by the discrepancies...at least that is my understanding.

Is there any interaction between these theoretical multiple universes?

Makes me miss the show Sliders. First couple seasons (when the fat guy was still around) were epic. All downhill after that.

These pseudo-science entertainment shows keep getting worse and worse. It's like they're really trying to convince you that string-theory is generally accepted, or largely proven. The science community isn't even consistent on what string theory consists of. I'd rather watch michale moore.

I don't know. Basically i think alot of people are trying to understand the deeper layers of quantum physics, string theory, multiverses and so on without having a basic understanding of general quantum physics first.
It's really hard to be objective about something when all you can really do is just accept everything. I'm not saying people need to take university physics classes or learn the bra / ket notation, but just get a general objective view over simpler things like photoelectric effect or the black body problem (Understanding the wave/particle duality)...

Ok i'm rambling now.. sorry. Good luck on your quest for truth.

Yeh it's kind of annoying really. Math based cosmology blows.

I love the multiverse theory but it's just kind of math based speculation right now. It is really interesting. I'm not sure if it's the above videos but Michiao Kakao (I have no idea how to spell his name) mentioned some new satellite system going into operation soon which might give us some evidence.

I'm a 5th year Photonics engineering major, well acquainted with the photoelectric effect, 2nd year level quantum physics electrodynamics and what not none of that has not one bit, not one bit at all helped my understanding of this sort of extremely bind blowing stuff compared to a layman.

When you get to this level all you really have to do is accept and think about it. It's not that people are trying to understand these things, it's that they are interesting to contemplate and offer a much more plausible truth (at least it was questioned) of the beginning of life and life itself over constructed piece of text that dates in the few thousand years.

I'm not well read in cosmology but from what I recall, even back in the 80s and 90s multi-verse theory was well established, it's only that now they are close to ever proving it. That being said, I lay off the stuff, because I find it pointless to attempt to understand something at such a deep level without going through the maths, not to criticize those that do, keep at it, I personally don't see the point.

If there is a multiverse its component universes would never interact (according to the current quantum physics interpretation) and therefore we have no way to prove/disprove such a theory.

I read a short story that had something like this. If its proven true I could always say "I actually am fucking X girl in a parallel universe." Unless I'm not, and I suck that much no matter what actually happens.

well, they are saying that gravity may be able to 'leak' between universes and that is how we can find out if interaction between universes is possible and thus provide evidence to support the theory.

Btw, this documentary is good but quite old. I downloaded and watched this like 3 years ago

It's very interesting nonetheless. It's called "Parallell universes" is a BBC production and came out in 2001.

It's an interesting theory, although it's pretty difficult to wrap your head around it. From my understanding, there are an almost limitless number of universes (I think it's restricted by the number of particles which is estimated to be around 10^77 or so, but I'm a chemist, not a physicist, so I'm not totally certain). So instead of just universes where it's similar to ours, but with slightly different events, there could be universes where the 'fundamental constants' of our universe, could have slightly different values. Maybe strong force would be too strong and everything would remain as hydrogen or something in a different universe. Correct me if I'm wrong.
