I have to do online math because I'm horribad at math in order to catch up to people. We're required to get a credit a week (it's kinda like a progress thingy) every week up untill next week. I'm going to lose a week on being able to complete these courses because i've failed the final.

6. Different. Times.

By. One. Question.

I'm kinda clueless as to what to do. I've gone to see a tutor 3 times and I keep making mistakes that I just don't understand why i'm making. Sigh. It makes me so mad. I guess I need to try harder.

I guess to clarify, from the second week onward we have to get a mini credit in the class. This is the LAST week a credit is required. If you miss a credit, then a week is cut off your exam time and you lose the chance to earn an incomplete in the class if you just run out of time to do math. So in other words, on the very last week i'm going to lose that because i can't pass the final :/

Either way, it's the weekend! Time to go drown my sorrows.

How much time are you spending studying every day? What level of math are we talking about?

Maybe you should drown your sorrows in math problems instead of alcohol (if that's what you meant) - that way they may stay drowned in the future.

In any case, good luck.

I studied about 5 hours for math that's like ~ Algebra 2 level math. So pretty pathetic :/

You study 5 hours a day? Is that solid, quality studying? How many problems do you complete in this time (with the right answer)?

Also, what is your iccup high?

The exam consists of 20 problems. And not 5 hours a day, about an hour a day when i started on monday. Solid, quiet studying.

my iCCup high?

An hour a day is clearly not enough. Study more! Focus on working problems rather than re-reading chapters or anything like that. Make sure you are getting the right answer (do problems that have the answer in the back), and make sure you understand why it's correct.

I didn't mean 'how many problems do you have to answer on the exam', I meant, how many (practice) problems do you successfully answer in a single study period.

If you're not sure why it's correct, or you're reaaally stuck, ask! Ask anyone who can answer (there are tons on TL as you may have noticed - there is no legitimate problem with school help threads so long as you've put a lot of effort in already!).

But yeah, study more. Good luck.

Just get worksheets and do it until you understand it.

Assuming this blog speaks the truth, it puzzles me that people are actually confused and don't know what they're doing wrong when stuff is so obvious.

There are 24 hours in a day. I got the vibe that this math is currently an important thing in your life. So you decide to study 1 hour a day. 4% of your available time.

Seem like a perfectly sane thing to do, yes?

ffs, if you study 5 hours a day, for a period of time, and you still fail, then come back and make the blog again.

I'm not sure if spending 5 hours a day helps. If you don't understand math, you have to figure out exactly what you don't understand or you'll keep making the same mistakes over and over again. If you keep re-reading, you're probably skimming. Hard to say anything specific without more information though.

Your tutors must suck. Have them watch you complete problems so they can correct you in real time.

You should probably change your attitude, it helps alot in things like this. Isn't math at that level kind of like 'here's an algorithm, apply the algorithm to the problem and there's your answer' ?

Shouldn't be very hard to fix problems at this stage barring some legitimate learning disability or something. Keep at it!

I find that actually attending math classes is a lot more helpful than reading the book. That's just me though. I can easily skip classes from other courses and still get b's and a's on the tests and assignments.

The key to being good at math is enjoying doing problems, working them through and being happy when you get the right answer and understand why you did. If you do not enjoy it, its not for you and thats ok because you dont need more than basic math to get through life.

Haha i was pretty much sure it was Algebra.

I hate it too. No goals and real life meanings.
I have never been a math fan although i have studied it a bit but it seems that i didn't enjoy anything anything after Differentiate / Integrals / Basic Combinatorics. The real downfall was post highschool Algebra lol. Maybe that's just because my teachers were the dullest in the universe and because i stopped physics at the end of highschool, but i couldn't find any interesting apllications to all this prattle.
And when i'm not interested, i don't study hence failure because you have always to study a lot when it comes to maths.
