Cant access Microsoft sites

For whatever reason, i am not able to access anny Microsoft sitess (MSDN, Office, etc) from my Netbook. My netbook model is MSI WIND U120. I bought this pc about 6 months ago and since then i have not been able to access the sites. I was reading through google, and apparently Microsoft had a problem with MSI because the netbooks where being released with XP instead of with Vista, and had some kind of problems.
I cant find that link now though.

Has anyone read somehting about this? Is it even possible to ban MAC addresses from sites? (I can access MS sites from the computer besides me). Is there a way my own computer is banning the site? (like, on the hosts file have an invalid ip... but not the hosts file, already checked it)

if you ping the sites on the netbook do they resolve the same ips as on the other computer?

hmm.. i pinged with another computer, and it gave me the ip address of microsoft website

If i type http://207.46.192.254 it works... but doesnt seem to load images. :S Images probably hosted on another website which is translating to an invalid ip perhaps?

No it's because the images probably have absolute reference meaning they need a dns resolve as well. Other sites do work? Perhaps set a second DNS server to a public one, that will be able to resolve those missing domain names.

Yeah, thats what i meant actually. Thanks for rephrasing though.

You either have the "DownAndUp.B" virus, or a variant of the Conflicker Worm.

Download and run these, with a reboot between each one:

(or if you are on a network with many infected computers, get the network version - http://www.bdtools.net/download/dcleaner.zip)

I had this worm on my laptop.
You get it from plugging in an infected USB drive or through email/websites.

Next... (important -- you should have access to microsoft.com by now) run the malicious software removal tool to be extra safe:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.aspx

note... if you still can't get on microsoft.com after the first 2 fixes then you NEED to download the microsoft malicious removal tool from A DIFFERENT computer and run it on your infected computer.

But don't plug any USB drives into the OTHER computer if you already plugged the USB drive into YOUR computer or you will infect the OTHER computer before you can download the tool!!!!!
