hello tl, i was wonder if anyone here ride motorcycle. I have never ridden a motorcycle before. Ever since my high school year, my dream was to ride a motorcycle with hugging me in the back seat. Well now I have saved enough money to buy a motorcycle but i wonder if its really worth it? i have a car already so i just want to hear experience of other people. Do girls think you are cool when you ride a motorcycle? can i get a girlfriend with a motorcycle? Will this happend to me if i get a motorcycle? im going to the gym lately too
My other dreams included living alone for a 3 months in South America, Alaska, Asia, empty island.
Oh i found this picture too. lol pretty funny

a bike jacket costs a good couple hundred dollars, and insurance is a bitch, so it's going to cost more than you would think. But if you really want to, go for it!

Wow.
I somehow find it hard to believe that this blog post is entirely genuine.
Don't get the motorcycle.

Hey man. I am a proud owner of a 2005 CBR F4i. They are definantly a LOT of fun to ride. You will never drive your car again (when you are able to ride your bike that is), trust me on that haha. Girls do dig guys with crotch rockets, which is what I am guessing you want to get. Have had many girls ask for rides and what not, and it's nice having them hugging you so close haha :D
But as CaucasianAsian said, you will need a bike jacket, which costs anywhere from 150 (cheap pile) to 600(really nice). Helmets are also quite expensive, but once again you could get a decent helmet for under 100$. Gloves are most likely needed if you live anywhere that gets slightly cold (recommened in case of crash) Other then that, not much else to get.
Just for the record, do you have warm weather all year round? If so, then ya I would say definantly get one if you got the money ^.^
And last question, what kind are you looking to get?

if you do ride, wear long socks/boots. even if you are wearing long pants. i am saying this because not a lot of people do this (at least from who i know), and this just happened to me like 3 days ago when i was dirt biking (from the muffler getting to hot and i fell) + Show Spoiler [kinda gross] + and that is with a heatshield on the muffler even.
if you wanna learn to ride learn from someone who has a lot of experience or just take one of those safety classes at the dmv or w/e. i'm not sure if you were serious in your post, but i figured i would post this anyways :p

Judging from the content of the OP you're more suited for a segway.

nothing up 250cc, you are just not ready.. i started with one of those and moved up to a 600cc ninja, the difference its abysmal, so you should start slowly and master one before going up

I learned on a 750 Suzuki Katana and that is a weird feeling.
Just find a friend with a motorcycle and ride his

I'm a bit older, but I'll be picking one up this spring. I was just driving in my shitty car one day and I realized that I could actually be enjoying myself on the way to work about 75% of the time if I wanted, and it would actually be cheaper in the long run (every mile on a motorcycle is one less mile on my expensive car).
But if you are going to get a bike, learn how to take care of it. I was just reading an article today about a guy who got his fingers cut off because he didn't know how to safely perform basic bike repair (graphic).

im still thinking about which one im gonna get. I only have around 3000 so i guess a slow one is fine for me. Im actually a chicken and i have a fear of dying lol. I know that i wont be speeding and driving more than 60 miles per hour. Im planning to buy it on craiglist. How do i buy it from a private owner? what kind of paper i need to do in order to be sure that the seller wont take my money and not give me the bike. my worst fear is that some dumb driver gonna change lane and dont check their blindspot and hit me. I live in florida so it pretty perfect for motorcycle. maybe in the summer it might be hot though.
Im thinking of getting a kawasaki ninja. Do you think that is a good starter bike?
also how do i check the spec of the motorcycle? how do you know the power of the engine?

Motorcycles are cool and all but they are just so stupid when you think about it. I mean are people really that desperate to look the part of a badass that they will take to the roads with all those horrible drivers out there on some crotch rocket that absolutely guarantees you will fucking die if some granny so much as clips you. It's not even about being a good driver, it's about being surrounded by cars and trucks on highways that will seriously kill the fuck out of you before you have time to even think.
Even in my car I was always nervous as shit near motorcycles on the highway because I know that guy is going to flat out die if anything should happen. I don't want to be near that.
Take up smoking or something, that won't kill you nearly as fast and it makes you look pretty cool. Maybe not as cool as a motorcycle but you could smoke with sunglasses on or something I don't know

Man, I am noticing a lot of shallow blogs like this on Team Liquid lately. I dont mean that in a hateful way, but do people in this day and age honestly think you will get a good relationship based on what you drive? What kind of girl are you going to end up with that will fall in love with you because of a vehicle?
It seems extremely desperate and shallow.
That aside, I really really really would not recommend getting a motorcycle. You sound like you want one just for the fun of it, which tons of people do, but doesnt exactly make it a smart decision. People are idiots on the road, plain and simple. I personally drive a compact car and even that is enough to make me scared as all hell when driving. But at least I know if I accidentally swerve off the road I am probably not going to be paralyzed for the rest of my life.
I will never understand why people think doing riskier things makes you look cooler. My votes for no.

The most likely thing to happen to you when you own a motorcycle is to get hurt or die. I would like to say that's just what everyone else thinks, but I know of atleast a dozen people first hand where that's the case, and many many people I know indirectly too.
Especially with your attitude, it's not a good investment.

I have an older friend whose been riding a motorcycle for 40 years now, not a single accident, he is a carefree person, and rides it mainly for the country roads, and tells me there is great deal of freedom/therapeutic element in it, which is fine I guess. (Wind blowing in the face, the rush of movement from all around, the rumble of the motors, etc.) I suppose he just managed to minimize the risk by avoiding riding in rush hour, city traffic, late nights, and bad weather, but of course nothing is for certain.
I mean statistically its like, 25% of all motorcycle riders get into accidents iirc? And by the sound of it, if you want to attract the best women, just start with your personality, become more likable, get involved in groups, take risks, be honest, really pay attention to other peoples' interests and expect to fail a few times. Learn from it, and grow, it'll be worth it once you find someone. If your having physical insecurities, trust me, your probably not that ugly, and you can always just work out and clear your head.

hhmm so i have been looking around. went to a few dealers and hitting craigslist. I know motorcycle is dangerous but i just want to ride it man. I was kinda joking around about getting girls and stuff lol. For me a motorcycle is like when you are a kid and you want to be an astronaut. well for me its to ride a bike. I always have a fear of dying, i am not fearless.
anyways so far there are two possible options for me kawasaki ninja 250 and a suzuki katana 600
I know that the ninja250 is best for beginner. its a really nice bike. everything is perfect but i dont know for some reason i dont feel it. its kinda like too skinny. it doesnt have passion for me.
the suzuki katana just jumped at me when i looked at it. I knew that i want it the first moment i saw it. I know its might be a little too big for me to handle. i really like it because it has a big chest. you know what i mean? i dont like skinny bike lol.
hhmm im still deciding, i mean the katana is not that bad right?
also it is possible to repaint a bike? how much would it costs? the katana i want is yellow and its kinda ugly, i want to make it blue or black.

you sound like the most insecure person ever. save yourself decades of regret now by being yourself and not giving a crap about what other people think.

Hi im interested in purchasing a motorcycle from a gay couples. They seem pretty rich and nice. They said that they havnt start their motorcycle cycle in a while. I believe this because in their title, they got the motorcycle in 2007, it has 9333 miles on it, right now it only has 9600 in it.
I went to their place today, and the motorcycle couldnt start. It would start but if i release the clutch, after 5 seconds the engine stops. They are telling me that its because the gas or something in the engine. I need to ride it everyday to clean out the system. What should i do?
Is the engine fine? i am totally new to motorcycle and this will be my first one. They say that if i come back tomorrow, they will clean out the system, and ride it around for me. Should i be worry?
its a suzuki katana 600 2004.
