There's no answer to the question since it's yet to be answered; however, there's perceptions of the possible outcomes. I don't think you're taking into account how complex a network the brain is. I'm not saying wonderful things don't come out of it, just that how you act and think are a product of all of your past experiences and the connections your brain has established within itself. And scientists are divided on the issue of a soul, as everyone is, though recent experiments in programming neural networks indicate that consciousness arises in a system from the parallel processing of many individually simple units, like neurons.
