I would assume the benefits.

Believe it or not lot;s of people do jobs they don't want to do That flat out suck. Why? Because they need money.
Not everyone is blessed with the motivation or talent to do whatever they want to do. Even the shitty jobs need to be filled by someone. We can't all be CEOs, doctors, firefighters, and astronauts.
I agree though, thats gotta be one of the worst jobs ever. Although most government jobs are extremely secure and have great benefits...in the US at least.

Ain't for me man.
And being in immigration can't be anything good, the pay is average, isn't too fun and kind-hearted? Lol.

I'm confused. You are currently outside Korea, but are renewing your Visa so you can go back to Korea or something?

:S Uhh? No I am in Korea, but I'm not a Korean Citizen I own a 90day visa, but 90 days cannot get you through 2 semesters, hence the reason why I lengthening it.

I can't say no to crying girls. I'd end up smuggling them all into the country. Maybe it's a job for sadists.
|
lol no wonder why those immigration guys are always cranky as fuck
|
I think there was a T.V. series that followed Immigration in the U.K and how they have to deal with it and such..
It was fucking horrible.

I would love this job. Their delicious tears of sorrow would sustain me!
|
I'll betcha they didn't choose the job.
You're probably aware that Korean males have to serve for 2 years in the regular military, unless they do something else that will serve instead.
Such as working a government clerical post for 2.5 years, or going for a doctorate degree in certain schools, or being a national representative at the Olympics or World Cup.
|
it's probably the paycheck.
|
I know the immigration offices here have very short opening hours so the people who work there probably don't do it all day. In addition they have no impact on decisions made about the "customers". They just act as people who pass papers between the paper processing people and the "customer". So the job does allow for a certain amount of disconnection because there is nothing you can really do to help people and whatever problems the people have, it is unlikely that you can help them or that it was your fault.

I don't even know if China have an immigration office. I never renew my visa while in China and no body gave a shit.

Today I got back into Korea. In the immigration line there was a chinese guy ahead of me. He was a retard and didn't fill out his little immigration paper so the lady pointed him back through where he came to the desk with the paper.
Then the chinese guy (who obviously thought he was the shit) kept barking at her in chinese non stop and she just kept telling him to go back out there and fill out the paper. Obv he didnt understand and he just kept shouting in chinese until he finally gave in and went back. The immigration lady seemed pretty pissed...so I walked up looked at her, looked back at the chinese fucker and said
그남자왜그래? 바보 같애
then she laughed said 와 한국말잘하네 and insta stamped my shit.

Why would you NOT post a translation?

Being an immigration officer isn't so bad, at least in Canada. You don't just refuse people and watch them cry. All you do is listen to their reason for their stay and if it's appropriate, that's cool. If the person lies, they're refused.
It's a good time because you get to meet a bunch of celebrities if you work at the airport or a lot of interesting people if you work at the border. The pay isn't amazing but it's a much better job than retail/calling centres/other crap.

Very amusing. You must have brightened up her day :D

Government benefit in korea is fucking awesome. I suppose that is the reason why people work at immigration offices.
|
^ Is very true. Civil servants in Korea have such great job security amongst other things.
Also, immigration law in Korea is pretty fucked up. I heard it's improved a lot since a couple of years ago but I personally have had a lot of stress purely from inconsistent immigration officials.
