Personally, I think megumi should be re-featured again. Out of all the streamers on TL, I don't think I see anyone that converses, interacts, and cares about their viewers more than megumi. Furthermore, while her lack of accomplishments may be holding herself back, she consistently holds tournaments for all levels of players and in particular, her Masters/GM Bear Cubs tournament has featured your very own liquid`ret. In the past she has also had EGStrifeCro participate and commentate these games as well as several appearances by the one and only Day9. Her commentary also goes in depth while streaming her tournament and her games.
At the very least, I feel like there should be other criteria to get featured as opposed to viewer count. I agree, its pointless to have someone with sub-200 viewers be featured. However, I think there should be other factors including community participation which Megumi clearly does. In this regard, megumi isn't the only streamer that has this to offer.
On a somewhat related note, I understand your desire to cut down on the list of featured streamers, so maybe another option would be to include a list of "upcoming streamers" that encompasses the middle tier of streams. A modest view count and/or community participation would be a requirement. This prevents the lower-leagues who stream with a couple of viewers or allows newer streams with potential (through community participation or higher-league play) to have the opportunity to become (re)featured.
Thanks for your consideration! ^^ -BluemoonSC
EDIT: I guess I should also note that Megumi was considered "popular" enough to do interviews for IPL3 on one of the prime-streams.

I feel for you I really enjoyed your cast I think it was yesterday and I think it's a really good idea to have team-streams commentating the games of their players.

Would it be possible to add a "My favorite streams" Then everyone could have their own featured streamers. And perhaps you could even check out your pro's favorite streams... Just a simple thought/solution to this whole debacle..

Not only does he have high skill (constantly high Grandmasters), but he also does commentate (which helps immense understand the reasons behind his actions). Adding to this he never is below 200 viewers and I even remember him pulling over 700. Every zergplayer watching his stream can learn a lot. (especially his late game with lots of nydus play is amazing to watch) Besides all that - it is just pure fun to watch him owning other GM players with 300+ APM. respect skill and not only viewercount (which is often based up on trashtalk or other non game related stuff) and therefore give ViBE back his featured stream status.

GoSu isn't famed? Are you kidding?
We're talking Attero.

I dont know about the individual reasons but i think there are many ppl out there which are interested in 2v2 even if its way less than 1v1. So it is hard to gain big viewernumbers in 2v2. There arent to many big 2v2 tournements out there so its also hard to make yourself a name that way.
So NO 2v2 Stream at all is featured anymore... You may could add a 2v2 section to the featured thing which ppl can than filter in or out. So you could help to even grow the 2v2 scene instead of killing the attention payed to it.

My thoughts exactly..

There are lots of streamers who care a lot about their viewers, and I would hesitate to state that she cares about them more than other streamers do. Perhaps due to her personality she may be more vocal about that, but it doesn't change the actual ultimate caring.
Talking about her tournaments as a reason to feature her is in fact a great reason not to feature, as TL already mentioned; several of the streams that were defeatured were done so because the majority of their content is events; the events go on the calendar and while the events are live they show up over there ==> as being live without having to be featured. It allows the content that does deserve to be featured (the tournaments) to feature prominently, while not featuring the sub-featured-level content.

you said something about the events several times in the thread, yet i haven't seen a post regarding this. care to link me? i have also yet to see a bear cubs tournament on the events side bar. i understand its function and i understand what youre saying, but i also have noticed your presence in this thread has mostly been your personal feelings towards both megumi and protech. stay objective in your statements please.
the reason i say that is because i watch a lot of streams where streamers look at chat and answer questions and whatnot. rarely do i see streamers take time out of their normal work-day to open up their chat and converse with their viewers. if you frequented her channel, you would know that she goes above and beyond what most streamers do with their regular viewers..without "hestitation"
yeah, that shouldn't be criteria to make a stream featured. it means nothing in terms of content. but my point being, along with her tournaments, IPL coverage, and community interaction, she should be considered for being re-featured as a prominent member of the community.

2. I like how you just blame the things you said on rage as if THAT of all things makes it acceptable. You're a grown ass man (23-24?) serving in the Armed Forces, ACT LIKE IT. If you want respect you should earn it. There are literally dozens of people all saying the same negative things about you, but for some reason they don't say those things about kara, delphi, or snute, who are other well known 2v2 players (And GM 1v1 players) that stream on TL. Have you ever stopped and thought to yourself... "Hmmm, I wonder why so many people say the exact same things about me? Maybe it's because the things they are all saying are true!?" Based on your actions, the odds are you haven't.
Personally, I do think you should have a featured stream. You stream 10-12 hours a day and clearly have a followership that rival the loyalty of Destiny's "sheep" fans. On top of that you do fill a niche since there aren't many people who stream 2v2.
With that being said, it's also clear that based on your actions you really don't deserve a stream. You do abuse it with your 500 /commercials per minute, HORRIBLY childish attitude, and incredibly hypocritical actions. I think you put the TL staff at odds with one another on what they are to do with you. Maybe a stint on the de-featured list will humble and mature you to an extent that you can be a positive role model for esports rather than a whiney baby who bans anyone and everyone that disagree's with him regardless of the maturity and intellect behind the opposing persons posts. Every streamer with some fame have people disliking him for whatever reason. I you feel like Protech should not be featured because of blaming others of stream sniping (which in many cases seems like it is correct) or in general have the occancional rage BM you probably have to remove some of the featured ones as well. Protech has banned people from his chat due to rage, but has been quick to unban after admitting it was over the line. E.g. Huk banned a guy for saying Huk stream was a facebook stream and Idra has his own gif's with rage quotes etc. Is this considered BM? And calling his fans for "sheep" fans just shows how much you dislike this guy, and this is more of a personal hate for Protech, whishing him nothing, rather than being talking objectivly about the reasons why he should be featured or not. He probably got som die-hard fans, but I honestly think that the majorety of his 2300 followers are normal SC2 players just enjoying watching a good 2v2 player stream for hour after hour. Also playing the nieche card as a reason for not to be featured is just plain wrong. Imho the featured list should give viewers a minimum of diversity of popular streams to choose from, 1v1's with commentating, 1v1 Pro's, Tourneys and 2v2's. I wish there were more 2v2 streams out there, but the few that exists are hardly online.
You should really re-read what I wrote. I actually placed him filling a niche as a reason to keep him featured......I was looking at both sides of the coin...you know, being objective?

Pers, do you think the hypocritical trolls that overhype everything will stop hassling protech whether or not his mannerisms change if he is refeatured? You put out some respectable names 100% but you know how doggish parts of the 2v2 community is from first hand experience ofc

Assuming it's possible for Protech to change I think he will still be bothered by the 'haters' for around 2-3 months. After that people will start to realize that he really has changed. Once that's established truth the less intelligent/mature people will no doubt still speak poorly of him but everyone else will accept/welcome the changes and move on. It takes a while to erase over a year of negative actions.

Bring back Attero!!!
WHY? Because he's a good player, he's mature, and he's helpful with his commentary. High viewership or not, he puts out a high quality stream. He helps us aspiring Protoss to be better. I can't even stand watching most of the others with their silly childish comments and stupid laughs and bad manners. Attero is a valuable asset to the streaming community. Please don't force him into retiring because of this new flawed system of yours. How about a vote up/down by viewers? How about a proper petition process so we actually have a say in the matter?

I don't know if this is the right place, but I cannot believe you defeatured Attero I heard he will be re-featured again next month, which is better than nothing I guess. But why not let him stay featured instead?
He is imo one of best protoss currently streaming who does a lot of commentating while playing. This is great for low-lewels like myself because I learn so much more, when people actually explains their decision making while playing.
He HAS results, - Championship Bracket of MLG 2011, - Qualified for IEM NY beating TSL_Killer - Got to the finals of WCG Canada (a 5000$ paid trip to Korea but lost to Kiwikaki) - Top GM player and aspiring to be #1 on the ladder + more accomplishments
You say he was averaging ~150 viewers which I find kinda hard to believe (I think he hovers around 300-400 once the stream gets going?), but maybe I'm wrong.
My 2 cents

You need to bring back Attero, attero is someone who has beaten people like Killer, who is a code s player, and who has posted very promising results, and just completley dominated the smaller tourneys he enters, he was just being able to start to get even better and reach his true potential, then you defeature him, this is a horrible business model if you expect people to stand by and just watch you. How are you helping esports when you take away any entry points for others?? Really now think of this for a minute, if you did this from the beginning then you would have no one featured except maybe former brood war players who were very popular. So guess what, people like destiny, non existant, and all the other people that make their monthly bills by using all the money they get from the streams. And you defeaturing them essentially, due to the horrible UI for the non featured streamers, you are hiding the majority of their views, If Attero isnt reinstated for good, very soon, then i will cease to use the site, and im sure you dont care but thats one less view.

I think a pretty good case has been made for Attero by a lot of guys here. This guy straves to become better and at the same time wants to help his viewers get better. Bring him back on the featured streams please?
|
In light of the recent arguments brought forth regarding the Featured list, I believe we should remove it. + Show Spoiler +
|
bring attero back, his analysis is simply brilliant... and on top of that he's one of the only tosses that streams when I get back from work... honestly don't know how you could consider removing him

refeature protech! best 2v2 in the world.

I think Megumixbear should be featured again, although you don't want to turn it into a popularity thing I think more people should be directed to her streams especially new people wanting to get more into playing Starcraft 2 and becoming more involved with the community. She's almost constantly livestreaming at different times to accommodate everyone on a global level, she always replays her games to break down what she did right or wrong thus teaching those of us that want to improve and also offers personal coaching as well as fan play AND her Megumixbear League competitions. Girl lives, breathes , and eats Starcraft not to mention she is a beast player
|
Hmm, now that there is a favorite streamer list, it seems like the most important feature of being featured is publicity since all the fans have an easy way to see the active stream. Of course there's also the matter of pride on the line, but I think this system rewards streamers that out forth the effort to advertise themselves.
