It seems that the possibility to edit very old posts is now gone. I dont know much about them stuff but is it only me ? I often used old posts to draft an OP or a huge post, so I'm sad and confused now. Is this only temporally or what we write is irreversible

Anything not edited in over 6 months is no longer editable. We had some issues of people reversing old work.

6 months seems long enough to get though any one event so i don't see too much of an issue with this decision.

I think there might be some issues in threads where people are constantly updating things - like sc2gears for instance.

Ah yeah programs might be an issue for the OP, i was just thinking of tournaments. Maybe maps but ionno if one guy would work on one map for +6 months and not be doing that on a map making fourm, and then there are threads that are collections of like guides. I think that's all of the thread types that would require an op to edit his post for updates.

I know this is not as important as SC2 Gears, but the BrotherMack thread that I started and now compile his videos as he comes out with more hilarious content may be affected if 6 months is the cap on when I can edit. Assuming he continues to release more videos of course.

Maybe we can make original or topic posts only editable? Or was that what lead to the change?

Maybe have it as a mod option that is always on (6 month limit for edits). The OP can then ask a Moderator if they can have the limit removed for special purposes like Gears and other various tools and events.

Was thinking of that too, but rather with a bot like how the streams are. Ohterwise mods might overflowed with p.ms

I do not like this change. Fan club threads are in danger. My Big Programming Thread is soon to be no longer editable. Many iCCup threads (map thread, IMS, ITL, etc) and other tournament threads will be messed up.....just too much stuff.

What kind of ridiculous abuse was going on to warrant such changes?

Sorry I made an error. Posts not edited in the past six months are locked. So one edit every six months and it is ok.

Mani caused a whirlwind of fear D:<

Sounds fair. The suggestions above would be equally valid though, just, perhaps, not used as much.

Bump.

I decided to finally update my info in the SC2 Practice Partner Retail thread, but I could not because of the new change. Is there any way to make an exception for that particular thread (since I'm sure I'm not the only one who will have this problem), and if not, is there any way I can update my info?

Was it ever explained why was this implemented in the first place?

Oh lol, misread that as people HAVING issues with reversing their old work (due to this change) -.-

But still, seems like bit of an overkill.

Do mod edits reset the timer? That way mods could re-enable editing of a post by just making a no-op edit.
