So a month ago I posted Darkfall hype blog 1. If you want a short summary of what this game is about then please read that post first. As I promised in that post I have now compiled all the best in game movies out so far and a lot of other nice info of the game
The was originally planned to be released on the 22nd of January but instead a stress test was started on the 22nd and the new release date is now set to the 25th of February.
First of the movies is the "17 minute gameplay video". This video was posted on the official Darkfall site in august and is the most extensive gameplay movie out for the game so far. The graphics has been updated since the video was made so don't give the skins and animations etc too much attention. I recommend that you use the torrent to download this movie found here. The movie is also available in lower quality on youtube if you are lazy: + Show Spoiler [ YOUTUBE] +
The second movie I would like to recommend is one that was cammed at a press meeting in Athens in October. Although the quality of the video is worse since its cammed you can clearly see the graphics has been updated. Video is avaliable on youtube. Remember to select "watch in high quality". The video is in greek but there is a translation here. + Show Spoiler [YOUTUBE] +
There are a few more videos out there but most of them are either short and boring, fake or just compilations of the above.
There is a heavy NDA on everyone in the beta not even allowing them to tell others that they are in the beta. Because of this its very hard to find information and impressions of the beta through official Darkfall forums and channels. At first there were very few anonymous leaks but since the stress test started a lot of new leaked info has been released. If you want to read more I recommend you go here for leaks earlier than the 24th and here for new leaks released since yesterday.
The last two official news posts from the 22nd and today might be interesting to read too. Found here and here.

My bad.. was just looking at the videos, i dunno, but the whole animation and skinwork looks very AC/eq1ish, choppy animations and not very detailed textures=o
We'll see though!
Gameplay > graphics for me tho.. so if it feels right and responsive it can outweight the graphical shortcomigngs.
I hadn't really heard about Darkfall before I read your first hype blog, but after doing a little research, I'm looking forward for it. The sandbox-format with an open skill system sounds great, I remember I loved the old UO skill system back when I played it maybe 15 years ago.
Hopefully, it won't suck like certain other recent releases.

Not sure if I'm remembering this correctly, but apparently the devs had to set all the graphics settings to lowest to be able to capture all that footage smoothly. According to some beta testers the graphics are way better than what you see in the video (and the screen shots they have on their site look really nice as well).

Yeah. There is a big difference in how good the graphics is in different videos and screen shots. Many screen shots and videos are of old versions of the game before they updated the graphics. Many screen shots and videos are also on low graphics setting. Ive heard that the current beta has a limit on the amount of graphic details you can set. Ive seen everything from choppy animations and blurry textures to epic sunsets over a valley and very detailed models. I think that the final version of the game will look much better when you play it then what you can see from screen shots and videos right now.
