So some weeks ago there was a thread with a paper article about the proscene in Korea weakening, and most important of all, Hanbit considering pulling the plug off their proteam. Then some days ago I was watching a PL game of Hanbit vs i think it was CJ Entus, and the commentators started to talk about how important was that players like Piano should perform very strongly in games, not only to put some morale on his teammates but also to help finding a new sponsor.
After that, I think its almost official that Hanbit will be pulling the plug and they will have to look for a new sponsor(LG Electronics, anyone?, something like the LG G's, lol).
The main reasons Hanbit is unhappy with the current situation of the team seem to be lack of results in PL and in individual leagues from their players, not being able to raise a superstar like other "weak" or "small" teams have achieved to. These are facts that anyone of us can see, and I think that we all share the thought that HanbitStars sucks ass big time.
Well, I blame all of these on the cheap ass Hanbit who want to get Jaedong-like caliber players at the price of Mumyung's. I'm kind pissed at Hanbit for showing that not only Isiah Thomas can screw up big time when it comes to managing a team.
The youngest ones won't remember, but there was a time when HanbitStars was a powerhouse in the PL. Actually, at the time it was my fav proteam along with SUMA GO(now CJ Entus). The lineup they had was unbelievable; H.O.T-Forever (when he was still a top zerg), Garimto(ok, this guy was starting to go downhill but still a good player), Kingdom, Reach, Silent_Control (at the time was still considered a good player and not the king of cheese), Junwi(during his short run and before falling into an unexplicable slump, this guy was one of the most feared zergs with his Junwi "massage"), and Sync, who never made much noise but while lasted, he was a reliable player in any PL match and still managed to get his OSL title, even tho I think this last one was once he moved to KTF).
So with such an amazing lineup, HanbitStars and GO where sort of like the short budget David's making a stand to the mighty Goliath KTF(who at the time where the NY Yankees of the BW proscene). GO was struggling way more than HanbitStars(economically speaking) and still managed to retain most of their star players(couldn't keep GoRush and Midas once they heard the call of the Emperor).
Not Hanbit. They just watched as their best players were stolen by other teams, and they'll just sit and do nothing, almost like they didn't give a crap, and some years later, the sponsorship is about to go down. Ok, they won't be distributing SCII in Korea, they feel like they got bitchslapped and they want out in the mainly SC based proscene. Fine. But at least they could've tried with their team, and maybe not leave them in a horrible situation where it seems its gonna be hard for such a crappy team to get some sponsorship.
Anyways, Hanbit, you really deserve Blizzard denying you the distribution rights for SCII in Korea. Hopefully after Hanbit opts out, the whateverStars will find a decent sponsor.
Bleh, maybe this is boring for those who didn't live that era in SC, and probably will be boring for those who did. Just feeling some nostalgia of the ol' good days and one of the teams that contributed to one of the best PL days ever. So mostly this is like a goodbye to the old HanbitStars and hoping to see them renewed soon.
Besides my long writting, what sponsors would you like for them in case(most probably) Hanbit cuts them off?

Coca Cola !

Ah, the good old days when Hanbitstars meant autovote in liquibet. Let's hope they can pull them self out of the gutter and back in to the PL finals.

Shame that OGN already got the Sparkyz name. I think Sparkyz is a name made for CocaCola to sponsor, but meh, you know, Korean proteams and their weird team names.

It's not that HanBit didn't care if they lost their better players, it's just that their coach is stubborn as hell. If he thinks he can get by without his star players, then he'll damn near ruin his team's record until they do.
That's his personality and it's the reason he's one of the most popular coaches in Korea.

If IEG buys Hanbit or merges with eStro or something, that would be pretty sweet.
HanStro ftw! :D

Yeah if this is true it's very disappointing. Hanbit is Blizzard's vendor in Korea, right? And poor Free...he's been picking up momentum again this season.

The reality is, it'll be really hard for them to find another sponsor.

Totally agreed with you there, I thought Hanbit were the gods of progaming back in the day with that calibur of players. The only players that Hanbit have managed to make into DECENT players in the recent years are Free, GGPlay (who has gone on)... thats all I can think of. Not good enough coming from a once top progaming team.
Time for LG to come into progaming, stop being shy fucks.

I just realised that the biggest purchase Hanbit has made since 2005 is Qoo)Max (I think). (Yes, Yooi, Child etc blow and don't count).
Hilarity.

Anyways, its sad that Hanbit is leaving- not because its Hanbit, I don't give a fuck about them. It's sad because it must be stressful on the team. I hope a good sponsor picks them up, get a new coach, hopefully the financial backing so they can:
1) Bring in new talent 2) Buy 'used' talent 3) Give incentive to current talentOn June 01 2008 07:01 nimysa wrote:Show nested quote +On June 01 2008 05:52 GTR-2-Go wrote: Totally agreed with you there, I thought Hanbit were the gods of progaming back in the day with that calibur of players. The bisu build IS the bisu build for a reason; Bisu created it. Bisu's build is a variation on other existing builds, just like Flash's build, or any other bloody build. Bisu changed the order, the ferocity of it, he changed the timing. That is why its his 'build', for god damn sakes. Tired of those idiots "SAIR+DT WAS ALREADY USED"
Yes, now go hit yourself in the face with a tire iron.

By definition, a player called Tampon can only suck. Period.
