I asked a friend of mine to create a tournament manager for me when TaP ran weekly money tournaments. Long

story short, it didn't turn out as nice as I had hoped and it slowly diminished until it wasn't really used. He's

recently rebuilt it from scratch and it's 100x better than before, I highly suggest you check it out, but most of all:

Use it and provide feedback!

Why use it? It's honestly the best - free - tournament manager I've seen available for use on the web.

BinaryBeast > WGTour

WGTour

Hosting tournaments on WGTour is a pain, I've been there, done that, and it sucks.

1. Tournament admins always run into the problem in which no more than the set number of players can register,

but when game time comes, some people don't show and your stuck short-handed.

2. Admins have very little control after the tournament actually begins. Making replacements for the douchecakes

who didn't show is troublesome since simply renaming a player is impossible.

3. WGTour isn't dedicated to tournaments so finding the right tournament to register for requires the admin to

provide a link, and you still have to mess with a few pages before getting to your tournament.

4. What's it matter since I don't think you can even use WGT anymore?

BattleReports

BattleReports.com is an alternative for WGTour haters, but sadly is still lacking.

1. The admin does EVERYTHING. He registers all the players himself (This alone makes me not want to use it)

Reports all the wins himself (Troublesome when you want to observe nice matches) And a slew of other gayness.

2. Limited options. If I remember correctly, BattleReports doesn't offer double elimination tournaments.

3. No replays (Actually I'm not even sure if you can upload tournament replays to WGT)

4. BattleReports is an outdated website anyway.

The BinaryBeast.com Alternative

Hassle free. Begin browsing tournaments right away - Or host your own! The homepage has the essentials. No links to the tournament section; you're already there.

Before the tour begins

Simple and fast registration to join tournaments

Detailed tournament info. Including format for all rounds, starting maps for all rounds, the tournament map pool, and any extra info you may need.

More than the allowed players can register for the tournament. To weed out the no-shows, use the confirmation phase shortly before your tournament begins.

When the tour has started

Tired of getting asked 2987234 times what map is next? Problem solved. BinaryBeast shows what map is to be played what round in a row above each column in the brackets.

Can't find your name in a big list of players? Problem solved. BinaryBeast also highlights your name.

Check Match details and download the replays

Yay BinaryBeast!

--

Do keep in mind that this is still under construction. There are a few bugs, nothing major, it won't stop you from using this to host your own tournaments. You can see what he plans on updating in the news column "Work Que."

The tournament I used for the screen shot was fake, if you want to check out a real one... click here

Please check it out and provide feedback!!!

Nope, I use firefox.

What problem are you having?

If you can only get it to work in IE I guess you can use IETab? (Firefox extension)

Update: Due to complaints about size... there is now a fixed size.

For those of you who liked not having to scroll previously, don't worry, an option will be added soon in the settings menu just for that

If you did have problems / complaints about size, please check again and provide new feedback. Thanks!

I played a few tourneys (not the TaP ones) on the old version, thought it was good =) Haven't checked out the new one though, but I doubt someone would change it to the worse.

How do I kill a tourney? I made a testtourney to see how the thing works and see what sort of things I can fool with, but I don't know how to kill it.

Also, does the thing make brackets randomly? Is there any way to make our own brackets?

More SC oriented? It shows map for the rounds and looks like it saves replays and the brackets for future viewing

I've never even heard of bracketmaker, actually. I'll check it out later and post some differences.

It looks like BracketMaker is run completely by the admin.

It's very stressful when players can't register and advance themselves IMO.

Why bother with the high blood pressure when you can use BinaryBeast?

Plus it looks so plain.

Absolutely HORRID graphics and design over all, but the features look razor sharp. Get a real designer and you could turn this into a money maker.

Why not have it take e-mails and send an automated e-mail a day before and on the day of the tourny?

I think that would be a great idea, remind all the lazies.

Yeah, he's no graphics designer. Though I wonder, would anyone here be willing to chip in some design expertise?

And I agree with you, once it's finished, if it looks nice it could be a money maker.

Thanks for the input

Can most certainly add this as a per-user option. Thanks!

Keep them coming please! Help turning this into something better than it is now is very much appreciated!
