I have Satourne v1.1 emulator, and i can't get this ROM to work properly.
Its Shining Force 3.cdi file, i can get it to load w/ the emulator, but it only "barely" works. That is, the game runs extremely choppy and the music is stuttered and all the images are kinda screwed up.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what i could do to fix it? or perhaps another sega saturn emulator that doesn't suck? :D
any help? Or maybe questions you could ask me about my situation to help me out?
thx!

I can get a hacked-up version of GiriGiri and SSF to run Radiant Silvergun, and that's all I care about .
I never could get Satourne to run RS, so good luck with that. If it helps, I had a hard time with SSF until I burned RS onto its own CD and put that in my CD drive. Also, it will work with only the European BIOS for some reason.
The hacked-up GiriGiri is a lot faster than SSF, at the price of incorrect graphics, incorrect sound, and random crashes. I don't know where it's from though: my friend gave it to me. It might be hacked-up specifically to run RS, anyway.
On the up side, SSF has shown me very good sound and graphics emulation, plus it has never crashed on me. Furthermore, SSF supports my joystick better than GiriGiri. Unfortunately, SSF is much slower and I can't figure out how to get it into fullscreen mode (if it even supports fullscreen) =/.
Both emulators are much too slow, even with my P4 3.0 ghz processor. SSF is just a lot worse .

Care to share it ? I really really really really want to play that game. That and ikaruga. I've heard so much about both games and that they were some of the best airplane type games, never played them though because they are on shitty systems that no I knew ever owned. In fact i think ive seen maybe 2 dreamcasts and 1 sega saturn at Target and thats it.
PM me with details plz, thanks

Saturn was a great system if you liked 2D games. It was by far the king of 2D.
Day. How fast is your system? Saturn emulator needs to run on a monster PC

o0o0o shining force 3! i just played #2 on my genesis emu i remember i tried to get it working a while back but couldn't. Saturn just doesn't have a really good emu. Unless girigiri has been updated lately.

I really like SSF. I find it to be much faster than GiriGiri Hacked for the games I play - Iron Storm and Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV. However, I seem to not be able to save my games. Has this problem happened to you? Assuming you bothered to play far enough and deal with the relative slowness to save your game =]

Btw if you really want to play ikaruga, i think it was released for the DC and GC, and not the Saturn? DC emulators are out (chankast for example) so ikaruga can be played. I think you need AT LEAST a 3ghz processor tho ;o

Satourne sucks, get giri giri, it's by far the best saturn emulator
Still some games don't run really smoothly, Emulating saturn is a pain in the ass coz saturn system it was originally so hard to program.

That pretty much sums it up. Saturn does not have the following as the snes and other high profile emulated systems did. Those emulators had contributions from hackers, crackers, and overall gifted coders for years. Saturn has maybe 2 or 3 people actively interested in programming it. Look how long it takes for a decent emu to come out. Zsnes wasn't fully featured until about 5 years after it started. A saturn emu will never be complete, theres nothing you can do.
GiriGiri runs the best because it was actually produced by sega themselves, a project to market to pc cafe's and online emu players for a fee, but was dropped after just 1 version for some reason.
