Congratulations on your victory. Tell us how you feel.
Lately our team's momentum hasn't been the best but I think my victory was able to replenish it a bit so I am happy. I feel like my GSTL Season 1 passion was revitalized so I am even happier.
You took down GSL Season 4 finalist Life. Where did you match him?
Recently I practiced for everything through ladder. I normally meet Life often on ladder anyways so I think that's why I was able to match him really well. I know that Life likes to play poorly in the beginning. That's why I figured it'd be hard for him to block my immortal all ins.
Would you say that your strategies were meant to match Life's?
That's true. It it was a different player, I would've suffered a lot of early damage from his lings and then I would've had to play the rest of the game from a disadvantageous position.
Your immortal all ins were great but you also showed phenomenal warp prism play.
Lately I've started thinking "what should I do to be able to win?" even during my games. I would think of scenarios where after my first attack gets blocked and the game goes 9:1 in his favor, I could still put together one final attack that could turn the game around. And after thinking like that, I was able to concoct a really good strategy from that. I knew Life was an aggressive player and that he would move out with his entire army.
It was a little disappointing that we weren't able to see any harassment from your warp prisms. Was it because you wanted to strengthen your main army?
It's something I personally know but excluding any special situations, if you decide to harass with your army instead of filling it up to 200, I think Protoss actually get the worse end of the deal. The other things I know about this match up I will show later on during a different match.
Besides the finals, which match do you remember the most?
The Cloud Kingdom game against YongHwa is the game I remember the most. I was lacking in consistency and my base was continuously occupied till the very end so I had no idea if I would win or not.
After finding out that your opponent would be WCG's Korean representative YongHwa, how did you prepare for him?
There is a build order I use that always works against someone I've never met before. I figured I would use that strategy, shake him up mentally, and then just comfortably lead the rest of the match through my pace. Aside from the loss in game three on Whirlwind even though I had the build order advantage, I think everything went really well like I wanted it to.
You had to take down fellow teammate Ryung in the third round.
I lost to Ryung in the Fnatic Raid Call tournament about three days ago in the first round. That's why I'm not sorry about today's victory (laughs). I practice with him a lot so I struggled a lot since he knew where to hit me where it hurts.
A lot of Protosses are saying that it is really hard to defeat a Zerg in the late game. How do you feel about the infestor/brood lord composition?
I really want to show what you should do soon for the GSTL. I had been feeling that late game Zerg wall for about two months now but I think I've overcome it. And I think my skills have gotten better ever since I've figured this out as well.
Like you just mentioned, SlayerS has a round three match against MVP in the losers' round. Your teams momentum has weakened as of late, and you guys are facing elimination.
Genius and I are booming with confidence. I think the two Min Soo's will be able to take this.
Who would you like to face against in MVP?
I don't really have anyone. But I do think KeeN will be a challenge. He shows solid macro games on ladder but he also throws in unique things for actual matches so he's going to be a pain.
What match up is the hardest for you?
Right now I don't really have one. I think I've overcome all race match ups. But, I really do need to overcome that one weakness I have where my head feels dazed during tournaments (laughs).
You have Iron Squid II group stages ahead of you. Anyone you want to be placed in with?
I haven't been able to prove anything yet. That's why I would like to be in a group with foreign players (laughs). But, I don't want to be in a group with Scarlett. I saw her performance during an online team league several days ago against SlayerS and she is seriously not kidding around.
Anything else you would like to say?
There was a lot I wanted to say since this was my first interview in a long time. Since I was also playing another game till about two months ago, my performance back in those days were sub-par. But since I've been able to improve in to a new player, I am hoping people will forget about my past performances. I hope people anticipate a great performance from me for the future since I have been focusing on nothing but SC2 these days. I want to thank our sponsors SCELIDO, Alt1, Dong-A Otsuka, and HosanENG. Our team has been facing a lot of problems but I want to thank Jessica noona for always being there for us, and coach Cella for always making sure we stay on track. Lastly, I want to thank Genius for helping me fix how I mind control myself.
