Sick OP, you are the fgc wizard here on TL :D This year may be the first year, several non-Japan representatives make it to round 2 (I think mainly due to umvc3).
Can't wait for this. AE should be amazing. Uryo/Momochi/Haitani ftw, love the mastery they have over their respective characters. Hopefully Daigo can qualify in last chance quals, assuming he is with Mago & Tokido for MCZ. UMvC3, sucks that FChamp couldn't go but hopefully Justin can represent well. OP doesn't but specify it, but I wonder if any Koreans are going SBO for TTT2, considering the scene there is insane.

Did any foreigners go to play mvc2 before? I'm not very knowledgeable on tougeki history (outside of ST lol). Actually did they even have mvc2 as an event?

To my knowledge no, I don't think MvC2 was really well received as a game in general over there.
http://www.kuroppi.com/tournamentresults/sbo/ - Confirmed no. lol U.S. was pretty much the only nation that highly valued MvC2 as a top level game. This site has all the past results from past SBOs, and all other tournaments in record, even from when EVO was the B3 series.
I heard that SBO was finally gonna have a free stream. I hope this is true, they could probably bother the guys at Tokyo Game Show to set one up, though I doubt TGS really cares for SBO in general.
Aside from Tekken, I think that I've listed all the international players if you click the game pictures. Theres less international players usually because of the qualifier system and having to pay their own ticket to japan.

there was an exhibition about a year after Marvel came out and a team that wasnt even the 5 best americans at the time completely destroyed japan team in a round robin.. something like 24-1. Japan just never had the scene for the players who were trying to compete to get better, sorta how its been for america with 3rd strike and sort of some other games.

Last year it wasn't played either.
With them allowing console games this time, SBO is losing even more prestige. Players already cared less last time and the trend won't change if the organizers don't make any positive changes. Also, the government needs to step up and modify the gambling laws to avoid weakening their FG scene.
this is going to be the first big fg event that ill be watching while actually playing fighting games myself. will be awesome : D however, will infiltration actually show up? i did not see him on the qualified players list. also, no kof, am i right?
