SBO was always an arcade tournament, so first time with two console titles which aren't even played much...why would it be as much worth as SFIV on arcade, considering SBO is in Japan and not elsewhere? Like I said, it's not EVO.

Even though I hate Twitter:
Justin Wong ‏@JWonggg

The console tournaments are separated from SBO main area. It's like on the other side and pretty much no one is there except SCV/umvc guys

Anyway, I guess you can believe what you want. Too bothersome to care about that.

Well, it's not like Tougeki has huge prize money, right? Can't the Japanese community start a new flagship tournament with different people in charge?

Tougeki used to be all about prestige. It really was the highest caliber fighting game tournament in Japan.

Evo has now taken its place not because of prize money, but because of well-planned organization and level of play.

Looks like SBO is now lower than Nagoya Street Battle-tier stuff now from the way that Kayane described it. XD Godsgarden and Topanga pretty much are now the 'prestige' tourney and league in Japan anyway. (Even though both use a mix of online console & arcade, it's still nice to see them use both.) If someone did not win from USA for UMvC3, that would be more huge, but nice to see Justin Wong prove he can body Japanese UMvC3 players. :D

Lucumo is easily the funniest poster in FG threads. All Asian players are his waifus (except Asian-Americans).

Yep. And he discredits UMvC3 here, but he was popping off about Japanese dominance in the VF5 SIDE TOURNAMENT at Evo. lol

In the Evo thread, he was bragging about having watched hundreds of hours of Eita footage and talking about how great Eita was and how stupid another poster was (and how little they knew about Japanese Street Fighter), it was something about how good certain Japanese players were relative to one another. Of course, Eita promptly got eliminated in pools by ClakeyD and Jason Cole, but he was still going on after that with heartrending odes to his love. I suggested that we talk less about frauds and more about players that aren't (i.e. still in the tournament), and he blew up and said that the reason he avoided American FGC events was because of "retards like TieN.nS)." hahaha

And regarding SBO's fall from grace, Evo Japan is needed now more than ever. GODSGARDEN and Topanga League are cool but Evo Japan would be absolutely huge.

yeah cause playing on bug infested cabinets with terrible glares on the screen and that lag badly is so much more meaningful!

Letdown.

Edit: Could be worse, it could've been Ultra Street Fighter x Tekken.
