So once again we've had a lack of news and publicity for the ESEA (Electronic Sports Entertainment) League. Right now is a bit of a down period due to the recent holidays, so I think now would be a good time for a short little summary of what's going on in the league. Play resumes this week and we will be seeing many clan wars soon, and I will list some of the upcoming ones.
Current Division Standings (January 1, 2012)
Here are the current division rankings. As we can clearly see, It's GoSu is clearly dominating the field, dropping only the match against team Legion (LgN). Following behind are KawaiiRice's own Kiwiclones, who have lost to It's GoSu and StarCraft II Assocation (SCA).
Rounding out the top 5 we have team Nightmares (NMx) who have been really been playing well to achieve the third spot in the division. I didn't know too much about them before ESEA, but the two most prominent players that I recognize are NMxMasa and NMxPride.
In fourth place we have my very own team, CheckSix (xSix) Gaming, and in fifth we have Team Legion.
Here are some of the most recent results: + Show Spoiler [GoSu vs iS (Dec. 13)] +GoSuHwangSin 0-2 iSEdgeGoSudde 2-1 iSMentalist GoSuVibe 0-2 iSjEchoGoSuOstojiy 2-1 iSCrazyMoving GoSuOstojiy 2-0 iSjEcho GoSu 3-2 iS

Here is a preview of some upcoming matches that will perhaps be quite interesting. Once lineups are submitted I will post some additional information.
Nightmares (NMx) vs KiwiClone Army It's GoSu vs Complexity Academy (coL) CheckSix (xSix) vs Team Legion (LgN) vVv Gaming (vVv) vs Team Legion (LgN) Infinity Seven (iS) vs CheckSix (xSix)
I do believe that it is the top 8 who makes playoffs, so that is the important thing to note while looking at the division standings.
Hope this gives a brief overview of how things are going in ESEA right now, I will edit in some more information once I get back. Happy New Year!

If I'm not mistaken... it's top 6.
top 2 == seeded directly into semis 3-6 play in quarter finals
|
Hmm thanks, I'll have to check up on that. It looks like last season was the top 8 though? http://esea.net/index.php?s=league&d=standings
I was just basing it off of that but I haven't been able to find if they changed it this season.
Updated op with races and links

Can't wait for this to pick up again lol. It gives me something esports related to do. I don't see how anyone can beat x6.supply though. I've been watching some of his games, and I think he could take on Hero right now.
In all honesty I'm looking forward to the x6 v LgN match. It should be one of the better ones of the season.

Didn't Check Six win last season due to EG being DQ'd because they were at IPL and the internet died for the entire area? /drama /popcorn
I'm glad the ESEA is handling themselves with the same consistency and professionalism this season.

ESEA is a great league, unfortunately it could use a little more structure.
For example, Team Clash wasn't quite squared away for our match against LagTT, and even though we were online and gave the ready about 3 minutes after the scheduled start time, LagTT was given a W/O win.
|
Yeah, the scheduling system really could use some work. It's unfortunate since Clash is a super strong team and definitely deserves to make playoffs. I think it's still possible though, at 9th right now a couple more wins could push Clash in to the top 8.
And yeah last seasons finals were a bit -_-;; lol

And yeah last seasons finals were a bit -_-;; lol We're lucky enough that we've played all of our toughest matches already, and combined with our re-vamped practice schedule, and player roster (TBA) we're pretty confident we can make playoffs.
It's just a pretty disappointing scenario overall.

They need to re-evaluate the way they're running this league. Compared to other leagues ESEA is so behind...
|
I think they are making slow improvements, but they definitely could do a lot more. It seems like they stop caring about the league once it gets started. They shoulder probably a bit too much work on one person's shoulders (da_bears) and don't really consider hiring other people or even getting willing volunteers who would love to make ESEA a great event.

That is not true and i have screen shots to prove it; You admitted it was your fault for not checking ESEA (giving late notice by whoever was in charge of ESEA on your end) and not being organized and on time with telling your players to be online and ready to go.
rules state if you are late 15 minutes and don't show up; its an auto forfeit loss. You guys showed up 18 minutes late, not 3 minutes late; while every player of LaG.TT was waiting in the designated maps ready to go.
Trust me, LaG.TT has suffered way more forfeit losses in this league due to dick managers then Clash's FFL over LaG.TT. We are just treating other teams how we've been treated.

ESEA needs to step its publicity game up if they want to be a presence in the sc2 league scene
