Tournament procedure:
This is changing for the actual tournament.
The 128 players will be split into 16 groups of 8 players. Each group will play a round-robin bo1 series against everyone else in the group (total of 7 games played by each player). From here, the tournament progresses into a 64-man double-elimination bracket.
The 1st and 2nd place players from each group will be placed into the upper bracket, the 3rd and 4th place players will be placed into the lower bracket, and the 5th to 8th place players are eliminated from the tournament.
From here, matches are bo3 up to the finals which will be bo5.
Procedure of map choice for best of 1 matches: the maps for the groups stage games will be determined by the WGF committee before the start of the tournament, after registration has closed.
Procedure of map choice for best of 3 matches: Player A and B will be decided by coin toss, with Player A being the winner. Player A removes one of the maps, player B removes one map, and player B thumbs down one of the remaining maps, that map will be used for the third match if necessary. Player A then picks the map for the first match.
Procedure of map choice for best of 5 matches: Player A and B will be decided by coin toss, with Player A being the winner. Player A eliminates one map, then Player B eliminates one map. Player B thumbs down one map, that map will be used fourth, Player A thumbs down one map, that map will be fifth. Then player A picks the starting map, and player B picks the second. The remaining map will be used 3rd.
After the match is over, the players must save the replay file to allow a tournament official to check the match results if needed. If the replay file is not saved, the player may be given a warning or lose by default at the tournament director’s sole discretion.
