Hey everyone, I'd just like to start off with saying that I discovered Teamliquid.net when I started playing Sc2 and have to come to love this website. The community, the forums and the streams make it a great enviroment. I come on Teamliquid multiple times a day just to keep up to date with starcraft news and to see who is streaming.
I am creating my first thread because of something that I have seen on Teamliquid that rubs me in the wrong way. To get to the point, it is the Bachmann for president ads.
I have never minded ads before or have had previous issues with them and I don't use adblocker. But when I go on teamliquid and see Sarah Bachmann's face and an add supporting her, it pisses me off. Teamliquid is kind of like home for the Starcraft 2 community in some senses. I know alot of people might not agree with that sentiment but in reality it is pretty accurate.
To see political ads for any party or any candidate is kind of a violation, in my opinion. It is like someone calling you while you are eating dinner. I may be the only one who feels like this but I like to think that Teamliquid is a sanctuary away from all of that bitter and partisan political bullshit. Hell, I don't think political ads should be on TL. Maybe I am being overly sensitive, but I would just like to get it out there and see if anyone agrees with me. Thanks.

Pretty sure the ads are by Google and are generated uniquely per viewer based on past viewing history. (Which means that TL is not showing them intentionally.)

FTFY.
Also, you should probably know that TL doesn't pick the ads - the ad-service does that. I'm not sure what you mean by a "violation" - a violation of what?

I don't think TL directly has control over the ads, the adspace is probably sold or given to some google syndicate or an ad agency and they plug in the ad that is targeted for your region. Thats about all I can think of, because I'm sure TL staff would never try to actually promote any view outside of starcraft is awesome.

TL has little control.
It's MIchelle Bachmann
I've never got that ad: all droid stuff.
I'd say just put up with it, and know that she's an

google = big brother 2°
tl ads (through google or other) are team liquid's responsibility, i am sad (feel obliged to point out) to say
To be clear, adds on every site are the site's responsibility.
i know that's "how the whole internet (google deal) works" (thank you i'm not a moron).
However, tl is huge, so answering the "political add" query with "add add blockers" seems "borderline" to say the least.. not to mention "weird" seeing how many kids are on here (and are very much influenced by tl's mod's response, particularly yours richie rich)...
At least tell him you'll consider telling Google about this "particularly borderline issue":
Political adds do not equal "regular adds", they never have, never ever will be on par with bikinis, bar stools, viagra, parrots, women's tampons or even snake skin (not to mention that voting rate/count/interest' in northern america (like in most countries indeed, mine included) is less than "bright and sunny)
Just my + Show Spoiler +"gone forever, don't care anymore cause mods try to play me too much (and this for more than a year now) and i'm too old for that shit (but they seem to be ignoring that fact)" two cents.
