Hey all, A new universe just opened, and its only a few days old! (Universe Jupiter)

What is ogame?
Ogame is at is core a text based game, that is similar to a mmorpg rts. The Universe has a beginning but no real end. You can expand your empire, Kill enemy fleets, or you be a peaceful miner. Ogame is not really something that takes up large amounts of time. Its more of a background game, and a social game.

I also play in uni42, and I'd say im fairly experienced (top 10 in that uni with a top 10 fleet)

Oh god. I remember last year, I wasted many an hour playing this *_*
I was in Universe 42, in the alliance Pulse. Then I quit because it was getting inactive (my alliance that is) and my friends also stopped playing. For the past two months or so, my friends and I have been contemplating whether to start playing again. One of my friends has started playing again in the Universe Draco but I don't know whether I would like to play again...too much commitment

Sad to hear about some of your bad experiences. But your right, can be a bit consuming and stressful. Its about finding the balance, you can honestly login once a day or less and still be fine with certain play styles. It all about building your acct to fit your needs, as well as making sure to fleet save

A new universe gives you a fair chance to actually be a top player though, so now's a great chance to join if you're on the fence. And hell, this gives me something to do while waiting for proleague to start.

Oh jeez, I'm seriously considering getting back into this. I last played just a bit in like high school though, has anything significant changed or is it pretty much the same thing?

When was high school? Besides redesign, if you know what that is, nothing great has changed, besides tweaking of dark matter. The biggest chance is you can now relocate planets for 240k DM. This universe has 2x speed and 60 % DF though, so that might change things depending on which universe you were on.

I joined the day it opened!
I played in uni 42 when it first opened too but quit because it was taking up too much time afterwards :/ (I was a fleeter back then top 500 I think; might not going fleeter this time...maybe lol).
Hey Storr, so you're in THC now? I knew someone in THC back when I was playing...Twister...dunno if he still plays anymore though...

Used to play this like 4 years ago, before i randomly got banned for 40 years for making 2 other accounts.. Had quite the large empire going too

Regarding Dark Matter... I am assuming you can't do anything without it? Cause if thats the case. I will stop playing due to the fact that I have no intention of paying for dark matter.

Well multiple accts is against the rules!
One per Universe is the max.
As well as one person per acct.
I strongly suggest you read the rules, and if you have any questions, or any doubts PLEASE ask myself or atombomb to help you out.

About being banned for 40 years, The max time they can ban i believe is 9999 days, so thats why its such an odd amount of years (its never 40 btw, something much much less, but still outrageous) This is considered their permanent ban.

Just registered and my planet is at [1:85:8]..... Is this far away from the teamliquid alliance or does distance not matter in this game as much as it did in the games i played before and i can join?

The homeworld planet is only the first planet, soon enough everyone will have 5+ planets that they can place anywhere they want, so its no big deal.

fornax? such luck cuz I got an account there but Im planning on making the switch to jupiter while I still can (rank ~1600 in fornax thats why lol)
should've just waited for the new uni to open instead of joining an older one last month >.>
