So I'm thinking why not try to make an SG session for the starcraft community?
What is the objective of the SC Study Group?
I want to get a bunch of players of all experience and knowledge in on this, not just for competitive diamond players, but mainly focused for these level of players, and players that want to improve their game.
What do we do in the SCSG?
Ideally get about 6-8 players into a lobby and take turns doing 1v1s as any race or matchup, sort of like practice games but with observers. I want the people spectating to be willing to watch the game clock and whats going on on both sides of the match, point out flaws in each player's gameplay and then reiterate them after the match.
So say Billy's got a mistake he repeats in every game he plays but he doesn't know what it is. With 6 people watching after the game someone might point out "hey it seems like at 8:00 you always forget to make another overlord, or you get supply capped a lot." because having outside observers can point these things out very easily.
Then after that match another 2 players will go up, have the observers again point out what could've done better, and things the people in the match might want to take to mind.
Who is this for?
Again, this is mainly aimed at diamond players who have their mechanics down but want to improve furthur, of course, its not ONLY for diamond players, so don't be afraid to sign up but be ready for criticism that's kind of geared at a lower level player. It helps if you're fluent enough with the game to play at a relatively decent level.
How to sign up?
Either contact me in-game or leave your ID.code here if you're interested in taking part in this. I'd like to put aside 2 hours per night for this.
Please specify the following information in your post---
1) ID.code
2) Preferred Race
3) Indicate from one of the following your general feel for the game--
E. I'm below diamond level, but I want to make it to diamond someday and I am confident in my basic understanding of the game.
D. I am low diamond level (skill-wise) and feel like I need a lot of work to stay in diamond.
C. I am not that bad at starcraft but I feel like there's something I'm not getting that's holding me back.
B. I am pretty good at SC and feel like I could soon be ready to compete at a pro level
A. I am about pro level but I feel like I need fine tuning before I could compete.
S. I have no obvious flaws and I am ready for, or in the professional scene.
4) Are you willing to be a mentor? [i.e. someone who can moderate and run the events in my absence, or to run multiple rooms if this becomes popular enough]
-------
When shall we do this?
I'd like to be able to do this on a nightly basis for anyone who wants to participate. I'd say around 8-10PM PST sounds reasonable so everyone in the US can find this accessible. I'll keep the names list up to date as I can, and this is mainly to get an idea of who will start the game rooms for this. Ideally let's try to get rooms of 6-8 people at a time.
Please leave the above information in a post int his thread so I can keep it organized, and if you would like to be a mentor please contact me in game for info on how to organize this better
Also I'm going to idle in a channel on irc.quakenet.org so we can get everyone into one place when these events start. Simply join or idle this channel if you are participating. Mentors will be marked with a (+voice) in the chat so you can contact them for info on currently running rooms.
Join #sc2study and idle!
Lets make this happen.
