I was in class debating the purchase of my ticket today when I thought I'd poll the TL community. After the choppy stream of the finals last season, I am hesitant. I cannot deny the value of the 15$ as it offers hours of content, but it almost becomes the principle of the matter wherein I do not wish to support a company that does not follow through with their advertising. I just mean they offer HQ stream, but often it does not work on my otherwise fine internet connection.
Hence, the poll!
Poll: Did you buy a GSL S3 ticket?Yes, and I've bought one before. (1039) 48% No, never had one. (710) 33% Yes, first time buyer. (225) 10% No, and I've had one before. (180) 8% 2154 total votes Your vote: Did you buy a GSL S3 ticket? (Vote): Yes, first time buyer. (Vote): Yes, and I've bought one before. (Vote): No, never had one. (Vote): No, and I've had one before.
Just wondering who has lost interest/faith in Gom and who is starting to invest in it.

thread with op as only a poll is not cool

Yes, this is my third ticket. To be honest, I started to lose interest in the second season, I watched every match, most of them live season 1, and season 2 I only watched the foreigners live.. it just got kind of boring, and there wasn't that fruit dealer story in the top 8 The Nada and Boxer matches were cool, and Idra going to ro16 was awesome, but as soon as Idra dropped out I started to just kind of mildly care, especially since most of the good players I grew to like in season 1 weren't making reappearances in the top 8 other than HopeTorture, who extremely dissapointed me against FruitDealer so I was rooting against him.. Hopefully the foreigners do extremely well this time around as I am pulling for all of them!
I would also like to mention the amount of tvz in this season is really going to make sick of it, the matchup has been played WAY too many times in the gsl so far, It's gonna be kind of dull match up wise, just because there are so few toss, and so many zergs, so I doubt we get much variety
not sure how you can lose faith in gom, it's all up to the players to give us a good show, not gom .. foreigners fighting!

ill buy it for the VODs, not the stream
|
I quite Frankly don't find it interesting. May buy the Vods thing later in the season but MLG and IEM are like 20x funner to watch for me.
May watch Jinro's games though.
|
Third ticket. I can't watch all the games live so the VOD service is very handy. Honestly, foreigner or not I'd buy it anyways, because I love GSL so all in all it's all good.
|
I'll buy it in a few days. bought it for s2, definitely worth it.
|
I would love to watch all the games but I just don't have time for it to fit my schedule. 90% of any "starcraft" related stuff I do, I do while at work.
|
GSL is the highest skilled, best produced and most exciting tournament in the world, so definitely. I sometimes pay more for dinner, so it's silly not to. Foreigners in GSL3 will make it even more interesting. HD VODs ^_^
|
I bought my 3rd ticket for the VODs and the stream if I can't sleep.
Totally worth it this season for the foreigners. :D
|
Second ticket for me. While there have been occasional issues with the HQ stream, I have found it to be an awesome experience. The production is great and the games are getting better and better and its basically unbeatable in terms of entertainment and value.
|
The HQ stream is to choppy for me as im from the UK but the $15 is still worth it to me for the VODs which i can watch in HQ. I do my best to watch as much live as possible but with so many games played in the opening rounds i would have to have no life at all to be able to do that. The VODs are uploaded superfast and are very reliable so anything i miss live i catch up in the next few days while remaining spoiler free.
Having such a backlog of HQ VODs is easily worth more than $15 regardless of the stream. The normal stream is good quality anyway. At least as good as the MLG HQ stream which has to be paid for.

15 bucks for about 40 hours of content is a steal. Bought my third ticket in three seasons. Looking forward to it.
|
Yep, I just paid for it a few minutes ago. I also purchased the seasons one and two tickets and greatly enjoyed them, even if they take a large chunk out of my gaming time. I should also add that I only ever watch the VoDs since I'm too weak to stay up and watch them live, however, since winter break is fast approaching I might get the chance to watch a few live games, should be fun.

IMO, eSports won't grow for foreigners if you have to pay $20 up front to engage in the scene, so why should I pay them if they don't seem to care about the foreign scene. I never would have known about pro-starcraft if not for free BW cotent.
|
Not gonna buy again because I still don't have the money to spare. The only reason it would be worth it to me is to watch games before they're spoiled. However, I'll be on break most of the next month and will be up to watch most of the games live at 4 AM! So, I get the best of both worlds: free e-sports and no spoilers.
If only they steamed it live in the afternoon T_T

That was pretty much the bread and butter of my arguments in the past. But really it just comes down to the fact that I legitimately do not have $20 to spare on something that's been available for free to me for the past 10 years.

I can't always stay up to watch all the games, so the VODs are awesome to have, but when i can stay up, the HQ stream has never been choppy for me so i grabbed a ticket for this season as well(I had one from season 2).
|
I watch every game live so there isn't much point to do it.
