It was nothing more than stories, no hard proof. And, as mentioned, they also couldn't navigate open sea. With those two facts combined, you can understand that the King wasn't that keen on sending his raids to the West, as he saw it as a big gamble. Saying "There is nothing to the West" is a good way of keeping people from trying (until, ofcourse, he gets proven wrong and looks like a fool). | ||
