This is depressing.. And Tal'darim has pretty wide pathways. I haven;t seen PvP on it in a while, but does the basic "you can't hold the ramp with 1 FF, so you must 4gate" rule apply here, or no because the map is generally larger? (Not that that matters much, since proxy Pylon + Warp Gate..)

I disagree with that. PvP is just a really really dumb matchup. You require absolute precision to defend a 4gate vs non-4gate at this level so why take the risk? Play it safe and 4gate back, it's the smart thing to do in a final like this. I think this final would look more or less the same regardless of preptime.


Well I feel like if you 4 gate vs 4 gate, your chances of winning are maybe 60% even if you are a lot better because the initial engagement decides everything.

A well executed 3 gate robotics build can work, as well as an earlier twilight build with the ramp advantage + a sentry.

2 problems with PvP:

1. No defenders advantage: that's why it's not really dynamic. Any investment in econ or tech opens up a timing.
2. Difficulty of scouting: that's what makes it so volatile.

That's the way it's going to be without some design changes.

If you can't FF the entrance, you will four gate.
