There's a lot of varience in accents within the States, seems curious that so many of the casters I'm seeing lately sound the same I don't think it's the American accent (some of the best casters, like Artosis, are American). While a British accent may sound exotic, classy, and remind people of football commentators, just having a British accent won't make one a good caster. I think the problem with these casters is that they don't really add value to the caster. During the game, they'll say things like "thermal lance starting up", and that would be it. Now if I was blind or couldn't watch the stream, that would help. But I can see those things happening, so pointing it out in the cast and not going further and giving analysis doesn't add "value". The use of cliches doesn't help either ("it was the critical mistakes that lost him that game"). So neither of these guys are really good at analysis. But what about play by play, or just building excitement? Unfortunately, they haven't quite gotten that either. Some casters like Nathanias may not be the best at analysis, but they can generate excitement. But unfortunately, these casters have not yet mastered the art of generating excitement without sounding fake. That's kind of what I'm getting at, they have that kind of nasally 'forced' voice that is a bit grating to me as it's a bit reminiscent of other examples of fakery in American broadcasting. It's perhaps not fair, but equally these guys aren't great on the content front either.
I mean imagine if a Valley girl casted, wouldn't matter if her analysis was good, some voices are just a bit grating.
Actually feel it's a bit of an elephant in the room as regards casting. I do accept that it's subjective on my part, but whenever the 'how do you break into casting?' question is aired, rarely if ever does anybody see to ask 'do you have an annoying voice?, if yes, it's probably not for you'.

I think you're mixing up what I consider the "radio broadcast" voice and a nasally voice. Montecristo is a great version of the former - usually, proper "radio" voices are NOT nasally (since a nasally voice would usually be the opposite of the very clear radio voice) - they are, however, very forceful and often overly precise, and you can tell that there's a kind of "fakeness" to the emotion generated (maybe because they lack a certain range, always being forceful, or maybe because the overly polished tones). Nasally voices, on the other hand, are just nasally sounding voices, and a separate issue.
It's subjective to the extent in which a person might tolerate or prefer such a voice, but I think we can also agree that there are those are objective qualities of a voice. It's also not really an American issue - I consider TB to be an English version of the radio broadcast voice.

Kinda difficult to outmicro someone in PvP with US server lag. It was evidently good enough

Huh, I thought Crank's aggression had failed. Not bad

Honestly, the biggest thing for me that makes a caster good or bad is whether or not they have a "foreigner bias" which, unfortunately, these two have.
