Most commentating teams for "real" sports (as in, the stuff you get on your TV) has people like Husky and HD, and they do a lot of the commentating/shouting, but usually they are also accompanied by people in a more analytical position who have a deeper understanding. Husky/HD mainly focus on the general talking over a game and saying mostly stuff kind of related to it part of the job, which is what you also get with TV commentators for sports, but then they lack the complete package by not having the more analytical parts, in my opinion. Someone like Day9 tries to do a bit of both, but then often (as you typically get on TV), commentary is best done in teams where people have different skillsets and different appeal.

I like Day9 a lot better obviously but this is a question of who's more mainstream, not who's better quality.

I'm looking for someone more casual. So who wins? HD or Husky? ![]() That's not a very objective question, then, if you're answering your own OP by discounting Day9. "Mainstream" doesn't inherently mean "already commanding a large following" but rather "who is the most accessible and valuable to the average person". They're all equally accessible, but Day has the game sense and knowledge to actually educate the viewer while simultaneously giving play-by-play and color commentary.

Day9 is ofcourse also a favorite, I learned most from him and PsY HD and Husky are fun too and I watched them a lot, but recently I find them a bit less educational and sometimes a bit over the top. They also talk too often about stuff not related to the game they are casting and recently have too few casts. I feel like they are busy with all kinds of stuff , tournaments, websites, sponsoring etc, and casting became a bit secundary. Got to respect everything they do for the community, but maybe it's a bit too much, for example I don't really see the need for StarcraftArena.net, yet another sc2 site? AskJoshy and Crota are pretty good too.

Husky is cooky, and I like him. And HD is John Madden, and I like him too. I just think Day9 has more depth, as well as more of a knack for appealing to new people. Day9 predicts what the players will do where Husky and HD just say what's going on. Between all that I find Day9 to be the best mainstream option.
