Of all the many casters out there, who would you say is the most "mainstream"? By that I mean the most accessible, the most entertaining. I'm not looking for in-depth commentary, just a caster who makes the games the most exciting to watch for the layperson (think the Hindenburg announcer).

I think that sort of caster is very important, as by making a replay cast sound like the announcer on a "real" sport helps give competitive gaming more of an air of legitimacy.

Day is a pretty good caster. I also like the gosugamers casts because they're fun, but they really lack a general knowledge of the game and strategy and sometimes it makes me cringe. Husky has some pretty entertaining casts as well. Most of the things I see on GLHF.tv aren't bad either, but I think they rotate casters or something.

Husky has a huge following now on Youtube. He is sort of like the gateway drug into the e-Sports scene now.

Day-9 is like gospel though.

I really liked Chill, djWheat and Day[9] commentaries they did during beta. I wish they did more of those. Esp Chill.

Easily HD/Husky

Those guys are closing in on 200k viewers each. While Day9 is awesome the OP says "mainstream" and Day9 is awesome but he's not the most mainstream caster.

On a side note I <3 day9.

Day[9] is the uncontested king of commentating SC2.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

Day9 is pretty much all I watch... but in terms of what I'm after in this thread he's basically the exact opposite. He's WAY too in-depth and analytical. I'm looking for someone more casual.

So who wins? HD or Husky?

Husky is more mainstream; a stepping stone into the scene.

where day9 is more targeting the established players.

I have to agree with this. Day is always great, and Chill was by far my favourite caster for BW.

Day9 has it all. He's the best, the funniest, the most entertaining, the most handsome, the most athletic with the most in-depht knowledge.

For me Day9 and Tasteless are the most hilarious and fun but at the same time their knowledge is vast. They never get boring.

Look for Tasteless in the GSL hopefully we get to see that very soon. Tasteless is exactly what you are looking for. Go watch the GomTV.net SC1 stuff if you want to see what I mean.
Insert witty statement here.

I don't like this thread that much to be honest, asking for "Who is the most mainstream" is unnecessary, because Husky and HD take this spot without competition.

Day9 may be a great caster, but he's far away from the popularity compared to the others. There are many good reasons for this as well, one hour casts with plenty of analysis will be boring for A LOT of players, most of them prefer the casting style of people like Husky and I can't blame them. It's not about the education value, it's about entertainement, because it's easier listening to.

I guess this thread will turn into a trollforest, so I wouldn't be too surprised, if it gets closed pretty soon.
