Iccuptv's casters probably. They make an effort into not being biased, avoiding using bad language and such things.

I'd say Day[9] is the best hands down. Most knowledgeable and most entertaining. I like husky because he's not a complete fool like so many casters and he has a lot of energy. HD on the other hand I personally can't stand. It never seems to me like he knows a lot about the game and he never seems very excited about what he does.

Of corse Klazart is clearly the best caster in the history of eSports. (jk)

Husky and to a lesser degree HD are mainstream casters. They commentate like typical over the top American sports commentators. They have a different approach than what you get from others.
Most commentating teams for "real" sports (as in, the stuff you get on your TV) has people like Husky and HD, and they do a lot of the commentating/shouting, but usually they are also accompanied by people in a more analytical position who have a deeper understanding.

Husky/HD mainly focus on the general talking over a game and saying mostly stuff kind of related to it part of the job, which is what you also get with TV commentators for sports, but then they lack the complete package by not having the more analytical parts, in my opinion.
Someone like Day9 tries to do a bit of both, but then often (as you typically get on TV), commentary is best done in teams where people have different skillsets and different appeal.
HOLY CHECK!

Husky and HD are definitely the most mainstream. I have friends who aren't gamers that watch these. I say Day9 is better but obviously they're like who the fuck is day9.

I like Day9 a lot better obviously but this is a question of who's more mainstream, not who's better quality.

Day9 is pretty much all I watch... but in terms of what I'm after in this thread he's basically the exact opposite. He's WAY too in-depth and analytical. I'm looking for someone more casual.

So who wins? HD or Husky?

That's not a very objective question, then, if you're answering your own OP by discounting Day9. "Mainstream" doesn't inherently mean "already commanding a large following" but rather "who is the most accessible and valuable to the average person". They're all equally accessible, but Day has the game sense and knowledge to actually educate the viewer while simultaneously giving play-by-play and color commentary.

if you mean mainstream in the actual definition of mainstream, then it's husky or hd. their channels are both in the top 20 most watched channels on youtube, and husky was in the top 5 the last time i looked. if you mean mainstream in your own definition of mainstream which is not the definition of mainstream at all, i would say day9 is far more enjoyable. love hd and husky though i do for some of the huge things they've done for the community (liquid` would have never been sponsored by tlaf without the hdh), they have a very poor understanding of the game which causes them to make a lot of wrong calls, and hd's terrible grammar really starts to get to you after a while.

I'm afraid I sometimes find HD&Husky's commentary messy and unfocused. Often uninsightful. Day is of course really good.

For me PsY is the most entertaining of all casters, great casts, game knowledge and humor. I check him every day.
Day9 is ofcourse also a favorite, I learned most from him and PsY

HD and Husky are fun too and I watched them a lot, but recently I find them a bit less educational and sometimes a bit over the top. They also talk too often about stuff not related to the game they are casting and recently have too few casts. I feel like they are busy with all kinds of stuff , tournaments, websites, sponsoring etc, and casting became a bit secundary. Got to respect everything they do for the community, but maybe it's a bit too much, for example I don't really see the need for StarcraftArena.net, yet another sc2 site?

AskJoshy and Crota are pretty good too.

HD and husky for sure, if all your asking is mainstream. They might not be the best in terms of awareness of the game or in depth strategic knowledge, but you can't beat their energy and enthusiasm, and that's what will grab a non craft player's attention. Day[9] is great, but I think he'll be talking over the heads of most lay people.
Saying what we think gives us a wider conversational range than saying what we know.

Day9 gets my vote above all other casters simply because he appears to know more than any other commentator, in addition to having the most experience in phrasing things in such a way that anyone could understand them. I have friends of mine who enjoy Day9 who have never played SC2 or BW.

Husky is cooky, and I like him. And HD is John Madden, and I like him too. I just think Day9 has more depth, as well as more of a knack for appealing to new people. Day9 predicts what the players will do where Husky and HD just say what's going on.

Between all that I find Day9 to be the best mainstream option.

It'd probably be Husky or HD (don't know how many views Day gets so I can't compare) I didn't realize until a few days ago how many views they've gotten in their youtube channels, pretty insane numbers, they are in the top 10 in popularity in youtube IIRC.

Day9 is by far my favorite. Really funny, but solid analysis and good advice for players at most levels, learned a lot watching his casts.

Day9 is best when he is actually commentating.

Most of his content is educational though.
