Raised in America? don't think so. She moved really early on, something like around 10 from what I've heard, so far from "American". Just looked it up, started training in 06, formal SM system when she was 13. She apparently was scouted when she was 7 but her parents thought she was too young, but they let SM take Jessica instead. She apparently went to an international school in Korea, so no she was raised there. Besides, most of the people who spent a lot more time in North America (G.Na, Tiffany, Amber, etc.) don't have similar problems, so you can't really attribute that to her upbringing. The Kiss and Cry thing was overblown, but that wasn't the only instance of people complaining she's a bitch, so that doesn't really prove anything.

The instrumentals for a lot of their songs sound like they'd fit right into the early 90s. Which is a shame since I like almost all of them except I can name maybe 3 songs I would actually listen to. Their latest song does not help one bit.

Not just now, even their old stuff never sounded nearly as modern as like 2NE1, BEG or t-ara. I only mention this now because you'd think they'd update themselves after a while but even their latest single sounds so dated.
