Protoss 1v1 player that hopes to do well competitively. I also like to commentate my play in-game, as well as the occasional replay analysis

That unit composition (mass immo/stalker) seems wonderful, but how is it not hard-countered by mass lings? Or did you just know he didn't have the larvae for it at that point? Also, lol nice to know even 2000+ diamonds venture out without observers against Z sometimes, I hate when I take for granted Z won't be waiting with burrowed roaches.

Nice reaction to cheese, I always hesitate on whether to try to wall-in or tech up, but responding with a cannon rush... lol v. effective. and poetic justice!

I don't understand why you didn't put 1 of your 3 cannons next to the ramp? DTs could come in and snipe pylons?

Also, did you think your attack would win outright, or were you counting damaging him enough to let your late expo not put you behind? Just curious, since you spotted the nexus with your obs but didn't expo for quite awhile.

Against dts just get an observer and expo. His tech (immortal/collosi/vrs) will be extremely late. Just be careful not to get your observer sniped.

Interesting building placement (pylon/assim/gate/core wall). Is that to stop reaper /hellion play from kiting around your min line? Do you normally do that against T?

Cecil, could you outline the graphics settings you play on? i notice you don't have everything on low bcause warped in units still have an outline, which is something thats so far held me off from playing on Low because knowing what is about to be warped in can be a huge advantage.

Yep! You should always make wall off with your beginning buildings, unless you have some other specific purpose (like getting a gateway closer to the enemy to cut rush distance).

I actually only do that when I 6 gate push, because I know the only thing that can withstand it is roaches or mass spines, or a lot lot of lings.

If you see the outline of a void or a phoenix coming out of a stargate, that can make a big difference, since you know what it is right away

Very nice of him to do free coaching for now. Very helpful information even if you're observing the person getting coached. Play by play commentating while coaching and what happened/what could have been done.

Did lessons, he is very informative and helpful. Gave very good advice, important timings, tips to look for, and overall strats. It is very helpful to get an in-depth analysis on what should happen, especially from a nice, high-level player who does not talk down to you.

I immediatly feel more comfortable with my PvZ (what the lesson was covering), as I understand weaknesses / strengths now of the matchup and how i can/should exploit them. Spectacular job.

CecilSunkure is a great protoss player and teacher. I have viewed over 50 of his games and have learned so much from all of them. He started offering free coaching on bettering gameplay and I immediately jumped on it, and can say I learned so much from him. Thank you CecilSunkure for your time you gave to me.

He went over several questions I had with vital replays explaining the theory behind each timing attack and opening strategy. My PvZ play has been very weak, but now after CecilSunkure's solid advice, I feel ready to demolish Idra.

Now I won't overstalker early game, or pressure after 5 min 15 secs if he goes pool first. Additionally, I'll place my cannons better and protect them with tech buildings, and get 5+ cannons at my natural when I'm expanding to my 3rd base. Also, I'll be more proactive about never letting my nexus hit 100 energy again! :D

For those new to CecilSunkure's stream, I'd highly recommend watching him play and asking about his lessons.

CecilSunkure is a baller. He went over a few replays with me and taught me a lot of things about building placement, army placement and micro. Felt good to get my play seriously critiqued. I was having trouble with Terran and Protoss as a Protoss and Cecil led me to the path of light.

Thanks man. Again, what a baller.

Had a great lesson with Cecil to shore up my PvZ weakness. Gave me some great advice that I hadn't even thought of, as well as giving me some overall guidelines to follow rather than just a basic build, so that I could understand the matchup better and continue to work on it myself!

I just received a lesson from Cecil and I was more than satisfied by the quality of service. And hour of time can fly by and he really understands that and caters to thoroughly give you exactly what you are looking for and giving additional things to consider. I spent an hour just talking with him and have a conceptually different intent towards what im looking to do to get better. I dont purchase online lessons and all that jazz typically but i would definitely go through with something like this again. QUALITY.

Appreciated.

Oh that was you? I cannon rushed because I was in a huge hurry to leave. I mothership rushed for my viewers mostly, and because I really really wanted it to work. I think it might have worked if I targetted down all your cannons.

I just had a lesson with Cecil and all I can is awesome. His understanding of the mindset of both the average Protoss, and student are impeccable. He has a strong grasp on everything including build orders, mechanics, attacking micro, macro and more. The best part he had a really good in imparting this upon me and really helping me get an understanding, he answers all questions very well and made my learning experience fun, insightful, entertaining, and educational.

Thank you so much Cecil! 10/10 Highly Reccomend!!!

Just had a lesson with Cecil, he realy got into the nitty gritty of my play and highlighted what I need to improve, I feel much more confident in my PvZ, and I can extrapolate what he pointed out to my other matchups and hopefully improve to a Master level.

More praise for Cecil from watching his stream when he does lessons.

Cecil is one of those rare people who is not only extremely good at what he does, but is also capable of passing on what he knows, something that not everyone can do, regardless of their ability.

The ability to pass on your skills is a much more valuable thing than simply having those skills, and Cecil is a great teacher. patient and very proficient at tailoring the things he says in a way that each individual student can understand.

Sorry I haven't been hanging out in the stream any more Cecil, I've been retardedly busy with school. When things die down again I'll definitely try to remember to hang out there again, because it's easily my favourite stream to hang out in (you actually have good chat most of the time, and you interact with your viewers a lot more than most streamers do.)

Just had a lesson, I am a bronze level noob, so I can use all the help I can get. Very prompt and setup a lesson with me on short notice. I think the lesson was well tailored for a beginner at my level. Went through a few build orders and counters.

Would definitely recommend him no matter what level you are at.

Took a lesson from Cecil focusing on PVZ (I'm at 3k diamond). I definitely improved my PVZ play, covering some fairly basic but big impact areas:

1. Scouting with (hallucination)
2. Safely applying pressure (initial pressure with Z/S and after warp-in, hallucination to scout enemy army)
3. Playing vs muta-ling (teching to blink + storm) and securing a 3rd right after

Thanks!

Just had my first of three planned lessons with Cecil, focused on PvZ.

Learned a ton about focusing on a plan well into the midgame, rather than freestyling thing, and using a flexible build order to respond to anything the Zerg does.

A fantastic lesson and I immediately feel a ton safer in PvZ than I used to. Looking forward to the next lesson.

Just had the second of three planned lessons with Cecil, focusing on PvT and forcefield micromanagement this time around. I got a couple great builds to work on for PvT, but most importantly we sat down and worked on one of the weakest areas of my play, my forcefields, and I feel like I've improved 100x. Cecil is great at identifying exactly what you're doing wrong and explaining how to fix it in ways that are easy to comprehend.

Fantastic lesson again.

Grats on joining them!

You still gonna do any free lessons? If I ever get back into playing often enough (school has been eating up retarded amounts of my time and motivation) I'd like to get a chance for you to tell me how bad I am, lol.

Just had a lesson (started selling them again) with a friend of mine named Seth (who is currently banned from TL), and here is what he thought about the lesson!

CecilSunkure's 1 on 1 session was really quite helpful - despite being a 3300 masters protoss I found that there were still so many basic fundamental things to learn and fix with my gameplay i.e. sim city, when and when not to engage, probe production. Having someone with a real desire to help you become better is what made the experience very enjoyable.

I just finished by 2nd session with CecilSunkure, and to give you a little bit of info on myself, I never played War3 and basically messed around with use map settings games in bw as a 12 year old kid. To say the least my rts experience is next to none, My first session I took with Cecil I was in bronze and some of you might not see the benefit of someone as low as bronze taking a lesson with a guy from masters, immediately after my session where I learned 2 builds in under an hour. Within 2 days of my session I went from a .500 bronze player to going on a 15+ game winning streak. Got promoted to rank 1 silver and am now beating gold/plat level players ( I realize that this is no great feat, but for me it is ).

Having just finished my 2nd session I can't wait to apply what he taught me to laddering, Cecil focuses on the big picture but as he's playing with you points out all the little things that will give you a small edge in your game. He is critical and to the point but in a friendly way.

I recommend his coaching to anyone who is looking to improve their game, his price/value is only going to go up so get in while you can.

Testimonial from me

I took three lessons from Cecil, two of them back in February and the last one recently in the middle of March. At the start of the new ladder season, I went on a 40win->12 losses win streak in Diamond on the SEA server and placed rapidly into Masters. Last night I then placed into Masters on North America. Prior to this I had been struggling along at high diamond level (at 3.3k points in Diamond last season riding on my bonus pool) and the reason for my improvement is almost completely due to Cecil's lessons. Thanks!

The stream is great quality too! Everything is clear and the colours look great. I say this because some of Cecil's YT vids looked a little dark to me, but his stream quality is much better. <3

Also, if you watch his stream you get to experience the incredible 'brb screen' lol.

I can't believe this guy is not featured. Aside of the fact he contributes to the SC2 community with his educative videos & written guide, he communicates with his viewers, making his stream interesting in case you are looking for new ideas as to how to enrich & improve your SC2 play.

Cecil was streaming again yesterday guys! He streamed ladder play and let us watch a 3 hour lesson on PvT. ^^

Hopefully Cecil will be able to produce more content again, now that his internet is fixed (touch wood). When you come on TL, just take the trouble to look in the non-featured streams for CecilSunkure, which is where his stream is going to be temporarily (~_^). You will not be disappoint.

I won't rule out some kind of temporary bw problem on my end before, but right now I'm watching MLG while streaming Cecil and I'm not getting any form of lag. Yesterday I was only watching you. Cheers, I only post because I want to watch more of your awesome play!

Hey-Thanks for the replay analysis you did for me. Any advice for improving stalker micro vs zealots? Even when I know it's coming I still lose to it because my multi micro is bad. I'm pretty sure this doesn't exist, but there's no shift queue order to kite against them right? Dargelian's micro challenge where you micro on 2 fronts with marauders gave me a little practice but it's I still lose people 4 leagues below me when it's used haha.

Edit: Assume I open the standard 1:40 Gateway, 2:45 core, 3:00 zealot, 3:35 WG research begins etc.

Today, I was bored, and saw Cecil stream.

Even though I was pretty much the only one watching, he got his microphone, answered all my questions and explained this thought process during his games.

He is a really good player, aswell as a nice and helpful guy. If you want to improve as a Protoss-player, I highly recommend watching this guy!
