The difference is that day9 usually has somebody else doing the play by play, allowing him to focus on analysis. The commentary you describe is actually pretty similar to how tasteless casts the gsl. (doing play by play while artosis gives analysis) I think it takes 2 to commentate anyways.
The difference is that Tasteless does not ONLY play by play but also explains what the players are doing and Why and second there are 2 people casting.Booth of them just scream "hes attacking he´s attacking" yeah no shot dude i wouldn´t have guessed if you did not told me so.
And if they don't tell you so, can you figure out on your own that having an extra base will be hard to defend but lead to long term benefits? Since this is teamliquid we're posting on I assume yes. I guess the point is that everyone watching his stream and posting here like his style, so I don't know what you're trying to accomplish by claiming that because it's different it's bad.

german commentation for german fans (while still switching to english and welcoming everyone else of course) casting games of german players. who the hell would be critical of him rooting for the latter? seriously is there anything more natural?
i agree he misses some details and sometimes it lacks a bit strategic analysis, but this is made up for by his enthusiasm and he's just fun to watch.

? i fear i've been trolled

Fear he's dead serious, which is even more frightening.
EDIT: Imo, the casters are doing an awesome job, very enthusiastic casting.

yeah if you can´t see that they are bad i just give up. So much for growing esport in the west. Apparantly all you have to do is scream at the screen to do an "awesome job" because you are very "enthusiastic".

Such. A. Great. CASTER!
Makes me want to learn german.

and who exactly claimed he was a pro gamer?
i agree he misses stuff that's going on and obviously doesn't have as much insight as day9 or other casters, but it's still fun to watch. if you don't like it, don't watch it but don't complain please.

Khaldor! Universal called, they want Vin Diesel back. Amazing casting. :D
|
Thanks for the football-like atmosphere Khaldor [i know this is not what clamev wants but anyway]! I didn't even know a match could be so intense over the internet. A shame that Socke is out, good job casting!

. . . well i guess that explains everything which crowd do you want to draw with esports? day9-like analysis is not the most interesting casting for people who do not play on a high level.
it won't draw a larger audience, because all the hardcore-nerds already play and watch day9.

I´m sorry but you are wrong. Day9 analysis is even more important for the people who don´t know the game very well.He is telling the people why players x does this and what Consequences this has. This gives the newer people a better understanding of the game so that they can appreciate it more. I watched the IEM Matches in Cologne with my buddys who have no idea about sc2 and for them Day9s analysis and explaining what´s going on is what keept them interested.
People who watch Kahldor and have no idea about the game, because he is just rambling about what´s happening.A Person who has never seen a match of sc2 who is watching the stream has no idea wtf he is talking about yeah he takes a fast second Base okay. . . yeah he is attacking okay Spees on the way what, why is it important and they are ATTACKING ATTACKING GG. Making people undestand the game is the most important Thing to Catch a "Larger audience"

Some people like it that way. And guess what? Some people don't want to hear the strat talk all over again. Day9 is great - point. But For a Tournamnent cast I don't want to hear again: "with this FE he gives away early map control". I either know that or don't care, cause I know the players know what they are doing. And don't forget Khaldor sprays in knowledge from when he chatted with players.
For people that's aren't into the game it also is way more interesting to watch micro moves and big battles. They don't care if the player should Expo or push or not. I remember watching a lot of WC3 on good old Giga//Games without ever playing it.

I don't know how you can conclude that. They do read comment, work on the myStarcraft quiz and talk to players for the next game to join. While they joke around and don't sit still on the table - what's the problem?
Watch some Football on ARD or Formula 1 on RTL and you know what bad commentary is...

lol clamev really whats ure point here? i dont get it at all. there are enough people who like his style, if u dont, just dont look this stream... and as far as i know there are other streams streaming this games, so ure not forced to look this one.
|
I have no idea what he is saying (well some) but Khaldor is really awesome. His commentating is really intense. But he might be to much. The other guy on the right doesn't get to talk that much.

his point seems to be is that khaldor's stream is some kind of negative force threatening to tear apart esports, and if we are to be saved we must turn it off at once
lol
