He didn't lose possession nearly as often as Benzema for example and created a couple of mildly threatening situations which were not taken advantage of. Laurent Blanc should be largely blamed for this performance however for putting out a ludicrous defensive line up completely void of creativity when he left far better on the bench. I don't think the players for France were terribly lazy, they were just outclassed in the end. France were way worse with Nasri and Menez on the field than with their defensive minded players.

I can't say anything more than the German Greece game was SO SOSO much more enjoyable to watch, Germany's attacking play is really efficient, doesn't give up possession but spends a lot of time attacking. Spanish obsession with possession and midfield control is boring as hell. Yuck. Can't say how much shitter this Spanish team is to watch than Zidane's France was, (was just rewatching the 1998 WC final), god damn, it really is the ruination of football in my opinion. Fucking 6 midfielders, just taking the piss.

There is no team better to go on a good defensive (and utter boring for the viewers) mode than Spain when leading. The freaking number of minutes the ball goes from side to side in the middle field...ZZZZZZZ Spain needs to play from behind in order to put on a good show for the viewers.

Fucking 6 midfielders, just taking the piss. I agree. I tend to call this style of play "pinball". The ball bounces from player to player without ever doing anything. Sure, the passes are precise, but after a few hundred, the novelty wears off and the match becomes a waste of time to watch.

Spain will score a goal eventually and will take it 1-0. Maybe France even makes it into the penalty shootout. Just quoting myself... Besides the penalty, it went as I expected ^^ What a boring boring game... *yaaaawn*

gets so bad that the players are actually affected in the way they play their game, which is why the best French player, by far, is Ribery. He's already been so entirely despised by the entire nation that now he doesn't give a fuck what retarded french people or media think and plays for the team and for himself. That's the kind of thing that comes with the experience from losing and being hated, that's what some of the players have like Malouda and Lloris and Ribery, the others are too new at this. And Malouda's getting old, people, dont hate on him cuz he's slowing down, i think he was one of the better players on the pitch tonight.

France was clearly defeated by the time the substitutions were made. I don't think they got any worse, but they didn't get any better either. France should have began the game with attacking intentions and a proper line up. They were a good attacking team this tournament up until this game. Naturally, Spain is a more difficult opponent but that doesn't excuse their display when they did have the ball. Far too many teams are intimidated by Spain and they need not be. Really the best way to play against them is press aggressively to try and win the ball and attack with pace. In the WC2010 final Holland pressed extremely aggressively (many will claim too aggressively) and tried to attack when they did have the ball. They didn't park the bus and in my opinion, they had a good chance to win that game as they had the two most dangerous scoring opportunities (which Robben both missed). It is inevitable that Spain will win the possession battle, but that is not a reason to stop playing football. I hope Portugal will keep their heads and try to play their game rather then tossing on a bunch of defenders whom serve little purpose versus Spain.

"humiliation" "disgrace" "disgusting" and when they were on a 23 match winning streak "mediocre" "half-assed" "unrealised potential" gets so bad that the players are actually affected in the way they play their game, which is why the best French player, by far, is Ribery. Yea because Xabi Alonso is a real spring chicken and Im sure if nothing else keeping track of Xabi Alonso doesnt require any herculean athleticism. I personally have no problem with what kind of quality people put up if your not good enough your not good enough, France is good enough they have quality. The desire was just not there. If they were worried about getting ripped on the media then they succeeded in that. Ribery certainly gave it everything . I liked Blancs tactics to he put his team in a reasonably good setup to get something out of it. Even if it meant an hour of relative drab for the neutral casual fan. Their going to get ripped a new one regardless might aswell go down fighting.

He is the worst coach Spain could have. Spanish TikiTaka with Luis Aragones (Eurocup 2008) was awesome, the better gameplay that Spain have created. With Del Bosque (worldcup 2010 and this eurocup) Spain plays horrible. How can you play a Offensive Style choosing a Defensive Double Pivot with Alonso and Busquets? No sense. (And LLorente, the best spanish fordward still havent played a minute).

We did NOT win 23 matches, and most of them were.... so-so. I haven't seen a really GOOD match from France for a long time. The previous defeat was... well the defeat was not the problem, it was the way they played, seemingly not *wanting* to play and win, being half-assed. Yes they're scared, yes we are often calling them names and we should stop to let them gain confidence, but they kinda brought it on themselves, and the garbage from 2010 will take a LONG time to be forgotten. The first step would be to show us good games, and will to win, even if we lose. Just PLAY. Not this, or even worse the previous one. We want players who try things, might fail, do crazy shit, entertain, have a good attitude. Win or lose ? I don't really care.

I don't really care. but almost ALL the players from 2010 are gone, so why the hell are we punishing people who had nothing to do with it at all? out of the Knysna debacle the people who are left are Malouda, Ribery, Lloris, Evra, Valbuena, Diarra(?) i think, almost all the players were either ousted by Domenech before the WC after 3 or 4 selections or were selected for the first time by Blanc. I think Blanc is making a mistake by not growing some of the younger, fresher talents in the team like Remy and Martin, they have potential, especially Martin, he brings a nice dynamic to the game. I think if you had the midfield be Ribery right wing, Valbuena Right MF, Martin MF, Cabaye Left MF and Menez Left wing with Benzema, Giroud or Martin in the striker's post it could bring a faster more offensive style. but thats just me speculating

It's just so frustrating and infuriating to see France play the way they did tonight and vs Sweden, showing no fighting spirit, being so passive allgame long like it's some random exhibition match... What a poor display, soz to every TLer who watched this game =X.
