The TSL final is this Sunday. Naniwa vs. Thorzain, in the most epic – yesyesyes. We know. Calm down, people. First thing's first: who comes third? Besides an extra $1,500, the third-place finisher will take home a seed into the TSL4.
Kas and HasuObs are as unexpected to be in a fight for a TSL4 seed as a Thorzain vs. Naniwa final. In European circles, Kas and HasuObs have long been known as top players. It is only recently in the TSL, however, that the entire, stretched StarCraft 2 scene started giving them the level of attention a gosu deserves.

that micro is just amazing HasuOb's run in the TSL is a long time coming. After IEM Cologne in August, he seemed to fall off the map. In reality, he had followed up his performance in the first major StarCraft 2 tournament with five tournament wins and eight second-place finishes. He was trading wins with players like Dimaga, WhiteRa, and BratOk in the weeks leading up to his round of 32 TSL appearance. Not every player gets the chance to play on the biggest stages, the ones that people post and make threads about. The TSL widened the spotlight for many once-smaller players and gave them the opportunity to turn into stars. HasuObs took the opportunity and went all-out, proving with wins over Huk, Morrow and Boxer that he is as skilled as any big-name player.

Which pretty much means that he's one of the scariest players in the world. Kas is a macro-monster, and been one for a long time. Like HasuObs, he was dominating long before the TSL highlighted his brute-force, nerd-shattering play. The Top Dog of March boasts ten first-place finishes and five silver medals over players like BratOk, Strelok, Mondragon and Grubby. He has undoubtedly been one of the most skilled and exciting players to watch. When he exits the TSL on Saturday, he will take a piece of the limelight with him.
<div class='bigbox'>
PvT is HasuObs' best matchup. Since April 1st, he is 29-9. To see why and how he is so dominant in this matchup, just look back at the 2011 Ultimate Gaming Championship (which he won) or his games against Boxer in the TSL. Against Select in Gadget Show Live, HasuObs showed that, just like skittles, his PvT has all the flavors of the rainbow. In one game he almost won with a 12 minute, 2 base phoenix push. In another, after a 3 gate, pressure-expand, he hid a dark shrine and destroyed the Terran's economy with DTs. Against Sjow, in the same tournament, he set the pace of the game with phoenix, forced his enemy's tech path, then cleaned up with a perfect unit composition.
Kas was able to reaper-FE over and over against Adelscott and strong-arm wins through terrific macro. While definitely a macro-monster, he will not be able to beat HasuObs with macro alone. HasuObs knows exactly how to deal with macro Terrans and has some of the best drop-defence, which is sure to fluster Kas. If Kas settles into the macro game, HasuObs will have a stack of builds to pull from. In fact, HasuObs excels at the macro game. Rarely does he lose a fight at max food. Kas' macro is so good, though, that he can run over his opponent before a perfect death-ball can be crafted. His enormous bio pushes should never be underestimated. The problem with them, however, is that they most always come after a successful defence in the form of a counter-attack, and HasuObs is patient. He knows how to rein in a mobile Terran and never over-commits. Another problem is that HasuObs has been crushing this exact, stim-heavy style of play since April. I hope Kas mixed some mech into his builds because HasuObs is very comfortable against the norm.
Prediction: HasuObs 4-1.

TSL3 3rd place match! Get hyped!

3rd place match should be as epic as the finals, excellent weekend coming up
I can't even begin to think :about how good TSL4 will be after seeing TSL3. Really want to See HasuObs in TSL4 though!
HASUOBS HWAITING!
Hasu's cheerfuls are so great. Regardless of who wins, i'm cheering for naniwa~
Slight problem with the main page.
Says "...HasuObs ight for a seed..."
Going to be a GREAT weekend. GSL Finals, TSL Finals and the third place match. And may I add that Nani and Hasu have the best PvT's in the foreign scene, maybe even world in regards to Naniwa. And on the other hand ThorZain and Kas have the best TvP's in the foreign scene, maybe the world in regards to ThorZain. Gonna be two amazingly epic series + the one sidedness that will be NesTea's repeat title.

still surprised that kas got rolled so hard!
kas fighting! hasu will crumble to drops.

I know already that I wont be able to watch this live - and I dont even am confident enough to log on b.net coz everybody in his real id broadcast will either be like " toss-imba.com" or "nerf emp" etc. etc. Anyway lets just cross fingers and hope that ill be able to watch some vods b4 I get spoiled.
any ideas how long it takes for the vods to get up fater the series is over?
Endrey, usually they get them up right away so you won't have to wait long at all. TL is incredibly fast with getting the VODS up. It's kind of ridiculous as to how fast they are.

hopefully we'll have many a awesome games.
i'd say the odds are against Kas judging from Hasu's recent PvT, but i still bet on him, hoping he can change the bitter taste he left behind after the anticlimactic semi against Thorzain that was a trainwreck of a match barely saved by the entertainment level of the final game.
Go KAS.

This will be some of the greatest matches ever i hope Kas comes threw
It doesn't matter for me, who will win! I just want a 4:3 with everything you could hope for making this epic: - long macro games - cheese - 6 pool - bnet-disconnect - ...
On May 13 2011 16:04 Geisterkarle wrote: - 6 pool

a 6 pool would be indeed quite epic, since this is a TvP :D
HasuObs, he beat Boxer quite convincingly...
Hoping for another great match, no matter who wins. (but ofc rooting for Hasu^^) Not sure if Hasu will really be able to stomp Kas 4-1...
I don't think it will be a 4-1, but I do think Hasu will win this!
I dont see him taking it 4-1. Hasuobs might have the upper hand but I think Kas will do well and take a couple of games atl east.

A wild July appears!

Epic fight incoming!!!!!!
I think Kas will take this however, he's just such an incredible beast, even more beastly than hasu!
I so hope Hasu takes this, but i'm not convinced... we'll see tomorrow though

this is on a lan event right? I think this prefers hasuobs, as Kas seems to have some problems with important matchups, especially on stage. I dont think that he would lost to thorzain in a random bo5 and mc just crunched him in the last event aswell. Maybe iam wrong, but i think Kas will get some problems with his nerves. I dont mind who is winning this, i have been cheering for both in their games and neither of them should get big problems to qualify for the next season.

I don't think this is a LAN event for third place. I would hesitate to call the final a "lan event" as well. It's not like they'll have a big stage with hundreds of people there (I don't think at least).

plz teamliquid MAKE IT HAPPEN :D....

Great 3-4th place match Hope to see some great games of both players, the best man may win !
I'm actually more pumped about the semis than the Finals
Although Kas is awesome I'm definitely rooting for my man Hasu in this
Thanks for the great read
It says "Kas vs. vs. Hasuobs" though.
Man this is amazing, i can't wait for this to go down!!!!!! kas is what inspired me to really focus on drop play when playing terran.
oh wow, totally forgot about the 3rd place
Well KAs FIGHTING gogo!

They are obviosly playing 2v2 with themselves as their team mate.

Incredible tournament so far. I hope a big sponsor realizes the potential of this tournament and blows our minds next season.

They had to leave some blank space for the wild July!
Also, Hasu has this.
This is going to be an awesome third place match along with the finals! What a great weekend to look forward to
Excited about this series. I have to give the edge to Hasu after seeing him perform so well. Should be a fantastic series none the less!
I have the feeling that these games going to be really really sick. I hope for a 3-2 vicotry by hasu
Woot should be a great third place match, I'm rooting for Kas, although I wouldn't mind Hasu winning either !
I mistook the mace in the kas cheerful for a pylon at first sight... >.>
This match is going to be just as exciting as the finals! I don't know how the TSL did it, but it's like every match I see is the best match I've ever seen.

Kas is just too consistent. def made me fan

i think kas is the favourite ,but hasuobs hwating!
Great match! Looking forward to it!
Blargh. Incredibly difficult to pick one. Was not a big fan of hasu, but his micro looked quite nice against nani. Going to lean to Kas i think.
is this today? the tsl counter seems off..
Man I can't wait for this set of matches, I think that this could've been the finals in any other major tournament, so it's gonna be awesome!! :D
"Almost won with a 12 min phoenix push" ... Not really, that push basically lost him the game.
Hoping to see Hasu pull this game off, though I like Kas a lot too. Hopefully we'll see some good games though.
Sheldon you can do it
If both of them show their a game its gonna be the most epic series starcraft 2 has ever seen. Both are incredible players and almost guarantee epic games. In that case i expect hasu to win 4:2 because i fear kas is gonna stay to long on bio in the late game and hasus decisionsmaking is incredible. though i hope to see both of them in tsl 4 and kas may be the tied 2nd best terran in the world with bomber after mvp This series is gonna be far better and much more entertaining then the finals
bitches be fightin for my seed
Could this series be more epic than the final? Possibly!
This series will definetly be the most epic of the tourney!
Both are great players not afraid of a macro game (unlike some finalist) which will bring us an awesome and long series. Kas might be more solid but Hasu is really smart. If Kas doesnt prepare something new, his reaper openings will be crushed. Anyway im excited!

"unlike some finalist" ? someone mad about 4gates here
Looking at how well-prepared Hasu looked in his match vs Boxer I'm pretty sure he's going to prevail over Kas. no single second of doubt about this.
The first game went perfect, after that unfortunately the games are unwatchable due to stream lag even in LQ (which is obviously not my problem since at the exact same time the NASL stream has zero lag). Very unfortunate and frustrating, hope it's not as terrible in the finals too.
who won 3rd place? i cant find the results anywhere here.
Yeah I always find it difficult to quiclky find results. This is something TL should improve. So who is third?

thank you. sounds easy. anyway the only thread i found was this and results havent been updated there. now they are. idk if you mean this one or not. it often takes a lot of time for me to find anything here, LR threads after an event has finished especially. this is just a feedback.

that last cheerful is so awesome.
