Each of us (as in human individuals) must get our high in some way.
Most of us seek it in the significant other, some of us run, dance or fight, other read, a few play chess.
There's a niche of masochists that get theirs only when they are thinking about becoming a martyr in a place where no one cared who they really were.
And then there's those special persons that wield the whip and sift through thousands and thousands of dull and boring posts just for a chance to find precious gems like in above paragraph and give them exactly what they need. But not what they really want.
