I really don't understand this.
If a political ideology is clearly irrational and potentially harmful, we try to apply reason in order to combat it.
If traditions infringe the human rights we take for granted, we try to apply reason in order to prevent it from happening.

If an entity in society insists on making up their own rules, not based on rationality, not based on reason or fact, but out of pure superstition and "tradition" (read in this case: superstition that had time to age), why should it be exempt from rational scrutiny?

Surely we can't bend over and accept to get mounted every time one religious group or another feels like we don't appreciate their imaginary friends as much as they do.

FIFA has rules, too. FIFA has tradition, too.
