Reason: You come straight off a ban for nonstop going at it with Kespa vs eSF and the first thing you do when you get back is spam it all over the place again? Seriously, what will it take to get through to you that dropping the subject or seriously altering your approach to it here on TL is required of you if you desire to continue to participate here. excellent, thanks! Every post that guy made in the SC2 section of TL seems to be of the form "Kespa > eSF". I check LRs at work sometimes to see how things are going (which is why I don't post in them, because I can't watch), and wow...
This was his previous temp ban;

User was temp banned for this post.
After that, in the SC2 forum his every post is Kespa vs eSF (or insulting someone)
For completeness he managed one more post before getting temp-banned, which is still argumentative.
But wow that guy is obsessed :p

Wow that thread is still going. The amount of warnings there is pretty funny.
Anyway, just another piece of proof about the insecurity about gender in some of the gaming community. People are weird, I don't get it. What are they worried about?

I think Scarlett's own signature captures it pretty nicely, something along the lines of: "Homophobia is the fear from straight men, that gay men will treat them the same way they treat women".
Not sure if that is exactly what her sig is, but it makes sense.

Anyone still has a link to Sherlock's ban?

When homophobic people find out that you are gay, they behave in a manner implying that they are afraid of you viewing them as a sex object of some sort. Or at least, that's been my experience.
I'm drawing a complete blank when it comes to the vilification of transgender people though. Maybe it's related, but it doesn't seem to be the same thing. The classic explanation of "insecurity" is too simple for me. ;o
On another note, I'm glad to see the amount of moderation in the LR of today's Up/Down group. Not happy for the need, but happy to see it get done.

Gay is rather mainstream relatively speaking, I mean they are near the same vein but distinct enough in many peoples minds. The difference between I like the same sex to I am not the correct sex, or I am the opposite sex (forgive any glaring generalization on those terms I don't claim to be an authority on sexuality), is a pretty large one even for those who are more socially/sexually liberal.
Scarlett is really just the biggest, proverbial lightning rod for a lot of comments due to her visibility. I don't recall Puck or Leiya, I am not sure which ID she is playing under now, getting quite as much attention on the matter of her sexuality.
When homophobic people find out that you are gay, they behave in a manner implying that they are afraid of you viewing them as a sex object of some sort. As a straight man, I don't even mind if that is the case. Compliment is a compliment, provided it isn't paid in a sleazy fashion. Nothing wrong with telling a man he's a good looking dude. Lots of asshats out there though.
Maybe a mod could satisfy a point of curiosity for me. From which broader region do these types of Scarlett bans originate or is it rather varied?
*Not sure on Pucks current identification, so... keep that in mind.

I'm not sure on the Puck/Leiya situation, in the WCS AM broadcast... last night? (I think) Axslav and Axeltoss continuously referred to Puck as 'he', when I'm pretty sure previously Axslav had been referring to him(?) as she. I don't know if it was forgotten, or there'd been a change of heart from Puck/Leiya, or whatever.

I'll change from 85 to 86, I bet nobody will know the difference...

Last I heard puCK had asked people to forgo gender terms altogether? Was discussed re-liquipedia at some point. There are appropriate terms for that situation, but I doubt most in the SC2 community would understand the words without explanation.

And it should not really matter (to us as a gaming community, that is). It is a decision of those people in their private life, and it concerns one of the most important parts of any individual, their respective personalities. Throwing around flames because you personally do not like transgender, gay or whatnot kind of people is just showing a lack in both intellect and respect towards other people and their individual freedom.
Just my 2 Cents

The real question is whether these really were the 85th and 86th iterations...

MarlieChurphy was just temp banned for 30 days by KwarK. That account was created on 2013-01-17 14:53:11 and had 128 posts. Reason: pbu You've been here long enough to remember this, right? Show nested quote +And please don't try to be Freud or Jung. Don't second-guess the motives for why someone wrote something. Only the author knows for sure the "whys." Respond to what's written. Avoid responding with comments filled with half-baked psychoanalytical presumptions about the posters imputed agenda or their psych profile. So, for example, when someone writes a detailed post outlining his/her strategy for countering a tank push, feel free to respond to or even criticize the content of the original post - but don't write about how the guy's just trying to impress everyone with his/her knowledge because of an inferiority complex! You don't know that and no one cares. Stop psychoanalyzing - you don't have a license to practice.
I was in this thread watching/waiting for this to happen although I didn't report any of the posts myself. I hadn't realised he had past history for doing such things.

Unto my experience it's usually the internet pseudo-psychologists who suffer from an inferiority complex and feel the need to prove their intelligence. ^^
Personally I don't oppose that kind of post (although I see why they're not exactly desirable) but sometimes it's taken too far and a ban is warranted. That said, I do feel that Charlie was trying to help. :/
