Add an advanced filters link in the filter menu and added customization for stream/news/calendar.
Re-introduced the option to completely remove races (the actual races, not the icons) from the SC stream section.
If you have filtered games out you shouldn't see Liquibet color for those
The option in your settings to get rid of the big filter buttons
Added back forum dropdown. We gained too little by removing it.
My posts My posts is brought back as well. Eventually we hope to create a single function that can combine my posts with subscribed threads into the same thing. For now we felt it was easier to just bring it back.
Locking the dropdown When you drop down your personal settings top left you can click the faded out pin in order to lock the dropdown. You can unlock it by clicking it again. We'll work on creating an icon that is a little bit more visible.
Removing the menu bar filter buttons Clicking filter now gives you the option to remove the menu bar filter buttons. As the filter button is gone now as well you you will have to go to site settings in the dropdown to bring them back.
Design We really liked some of the feedback we got for design, especially wo1fwood's suggestion pictured here. Based on the feedback we're considering making an adjustment along these lines. We'd like to get everyone's opinions on the positioning of the game filters.
I really like how the filters are positioned in the picture above, tho I still don't understand why they have to be that clearly visible. It's something people adjust once and then they're done with it.
...is there any chance of getting that sexy yellow PM thing and/or the big text "subscribed threads"-button back? Between Liquidbets and Site Settings there is potential space for that. Not sure if you already have things planned for that space but if you don't.... might as well give us a small cute option to get something similar to the old look back.

I understand that you feel they may not be necessary for you, but the buttons are absolutely necessary for TL. Previously our filter settings were very hidden within the site. Many of our visitors weren't familiar enough with these hidden filters. This caused an issue for a lot of people who just came here for a specific game. There had to be a clearer option for browsing TL with the game of your liking. The buttons are really important to make TL easier to use. I hope you understand.

Gotcha, that makes sense. The look in the picture looks most balanced and reasonable if you want it displayed prominently like that. =)

Shouldn't this be less visible? Or better yet, done from the options menu. A more visible icon would be unnecessarily obstructive for a setting that one would presumably not be changing often.
About the social media icons in the top-right corner. You've done a great job making them small in size, but looking at it as a whole, the red YouTube icon unfortunately breaks the blue color uniformity. I would consider coloring the icon blue, and having it display 'YouTube' when moused over (do the same with the other social media icons.)
Overall excellent work. I can't wait until more buttons get added to use up the space between Features and Store.
I'm not sure why do you want to put the filter buttons so ~accessible ... Once you set it, based on what games do you play and that's all. You won't - at least I don't plan to - change it at all.

Has been explained. It is unquestionably necessary and you can remove them if you want.
Locking the dropdown, hiding the filterbuttons and more advanced filter options for streams and stuff was just what I was missing, and now you've added them. I've got no complaints about the new interface now. Thanks!
I like wo1fwood's better than leaving them on the left side. On the right they are noticeable enough but not as intrusive. Thanks for implementing the option to remove them.
On May 26 2013 20:05 Waxangel wrote: the TL banner still functions as a home button guys D:
Yes, but the banner isn't left aligned, it is centered. The standard for websites is to have a way to get back to the home page in the top left, either a home button or a site banner. That's why either moving filters to the right, or swapping nav bar with filters works much better.
Would it be possible to add these options http://www.teamliquid.net/mytlnet/leftsidebar.php to the site settings page? If you do that you can get rid of the link under the left column and more people will see it.
Not sure if it has been mentioned but i really would like to see the total viewer count (all viewers combined of the several streams per event).
So [WCS EU] Finals Day 2 total viewers would consist of
WCS Europe +WCS Europe FR +WCS Europe RU +WCS Europe DE + WCS Europe PL + WCS Europe ES
Also it would be a cool feature i think if one could link viewer statistics (for example average viewers, peak viewers) into a tournament thread topic and or Liquipedia for example the '[WCS EU] Finals Day 2 Premier Season 1 2013' topic.
I also prefer to have the filter attached to the right (like it is shown in the intro picture). I wouldn't even disable them, if they were positioned like that.
The bar which contains filters, search, home etc looks a bit funny now when filters are removed, but apart from that this is great, and a nice quick response to feedback.
Nice, hope people don't keep clicking the stupid "home" button though, you should remove it or hide it per default just to piss people off. CLICK THE BANNER!!!

I have to move my mouse more to click the banner since I most often have the mouse over the topics to the left.
The options to adjust stream preferences don't work. I unselected "Other" streams and they still appear. I also selected the streams to be sorted by games then by viewers, and the sorting by viewers isn't happening. Dendi's stream is at the bottom even though he has 15k viewers compared to 900, 700, and 60 viewers on the streams above his
How about hiding the filters by default, but only for logged-in users? That way you still show them to casual visitors who aren't familiar with the site yet, but regular users who probably know what they want don't have to deal with them.
You could even include a filter configuration within the registration form to allow new users to set their filters once and be done with it, if you're worried about new users not being able to find the filter options.
Thanks for adding back the forum dropdown menu by the way, much appreciated!

I could probably answer that. The reason to have it on by default here is that anyone who wants to visit TL can have access to this feature. No registration necessary and you can still customize the content you want. For registered users or the more familiar, we've probably already chosen what we want to see so allowing us to further customize this option to our needs (e.g. turning it off if you want) is helpful as well. The only inclusion I would like if they keep this show/hide functionality is to be able to access these settings in the 'site settings/preferences' pane in the profile dropdown as the only way to access them right now is by enabling them and then making your choices.
Everything looks broken to me. I can't access the forums. Can't find streams. Nothing. I click on SC2 forums and all I get is a blank page. There's no streams to the right either.
Also, the mobile site needs updating as well, as I still can't view featured streams on there.
Think I actually prefer the filter buttons as they are right now, but I seem to be in the minority here. Furthermore, the person who brought up the usual position of the home button has a good point.
Browsing on a 15'' 1080p screen with a relatively poor contrast ratio, the 'pin' icon for the drop-down menu is both tiny and difficult to spot due to how dark it is. Could consider making it a smidge larger or brighter. Or a button outline.
Hiding race icons for SC2 players seems to be broken. Unticked the checkbox, but it's still showing the Terran symbol next to Sjow's name (Chrome 27.0.1453.94m).
Perhaps placing the race icons on the left would result in a less hectic layout. Could make an invisible placeholder icon for SC2 streamers to which the race icon doesn't apply. Might still clash with the other games, though. Just thinking out loud here.

I am getting the same experience, I think the filters are messing with forums as well. I have filters for DOTA2 and BW off cause I don't really want to see those on front page, but if I wanted to go to DOTA2 or BW forums are blank pages.

The main filters are site-wide and filter everything. They're not just for news so if you want to see the forums for those games you will have to manually change your filter settings in another way.
As long I can hide the filter buttons, I'm ok with the new design, however if the goal is to have as many people leave them on as possible, then I would definitely consider moving the filter buttons to the right side of the menu bar as I have the position of the home button engrained in memory and was misclicking the filter until I turned it off. I would def turn the filter back on if it were moved though, as it is a really nice feature, especially for wanting to stay spoiler free for the next day by filtering the content the night before :D
Would it be possible to make open liquibet numbers and new PMs a little bit more visible in the dropdown? The way it used to be, bold yellow text on blue background, really drew your attention much better to that. It's easy to miss now.

Same for you a couple screenshots of your settings, menu bar with filters, and the way the sections with issues look like.

That's really weird. Even though I don't care about SC2 news, I may want to check something about it (like right now about TLO) and teamliquid.net/sc2 and the Forum menu were really handy. Now I need to click the arrow, Site Settings, reenable that hideous filter bar and click it to screw with the home page so I can get where I want.
I really miss the old calendar. My time zone is 12 hours behind korean and the first thing I used to do when entering the site was to mouse over the previous day and check the events I've missed, then search for the live thread in the tourneys sections to see the results. Now I have to open the calendar and search through the entire month for the day i wanna check so I can find those events. I wish I could at least still see the previous day in the calendar.
Thanks for the options, now I have it rigged to look exactly how it was three days ago. I'm old I don't like changes! I would still prefer the bright yellow "NEW!" text next to my inbox ~_~

You don't have to do it with the site-wide option. Just do it in your filter options for each section.
My posts - check. Dropdown + lock option (new liquibets are much better visible that way, compared to a small yellow arrow) - check. Option to hide filters for games after I disabled everything, but SC2 - check. Home button on the left (although banner works too, I'm still used to that button) - check.
I think I have no complaints left now. Thanks.
Oh and filters on the right looks much better than on the left. But since those will be hidden for me anyway, I think that's not for me to suggest any changes for that part.
I greatly approve of the new look, really well done.
Now I just need to get used to the "Subscribed Threads" button being so small and rather 'hidden'.
Edit: Actually the "Posts" button work kinda similar to the "Subscribed Threads" but there's no counter showing the amount of new posts since last read in the "Posts" tab like there's under "Subscribed Threads", if you'd add that counter it'd be really great

My point is the forums should be left out of the global filter because they are not visible unless you enter them anyway.

I can't find any way to filter news either, just the sidebars. Disabling SC2 and then enabling in side bars doesn't seem to work.
Game filters should definitely be moved to the right side. I mean, most people only click those buttons once and then leave it be. Why not remove them from the mainscreen and just add them to your profile page/options?
edit: No need - seems like you can already hide them in the options menu. Forgot what I said.
I like having the filters on the right side and the home tab stuff on the left. I also wish I could hide the filters completely after I've set them. I don't really feel like I need them there personally. I think having them there for casual forum visitors and new people is great, but I've been here long enough that they are just going to be clutter for me.

They most likely have stats showing that too few people noticed the old setting options and thus have to have it more noticeable for people in general to use it.

Loving the changes, thanks R1CH! I love how even for those that don't really use all of the right side, they don't have to scroll much to see the rest of what is displayed there :D
<3 My Posts... not sure about the idea of combining it with Subscribed Threads.
Hmm, 'General' forum no longer appears in the forum drop down menu. I can't be the only one that reads that section more than Blogs (which remains in the dropdown). Broke my old workflow of dropdown->middle click->middle click->middle click on Starcraft, Dota2, General respectively.

Love the new interface, helps to differentiate between the game specific filters and the site section navigation buttons without making the menu look busy. Very well done.
The changes help but my issue is still that in order to see SC2 streams I have to see all the SC2 news, which I don't care about. This is weird too because in the sidebar settings there's the option to see SC2 stream sections but if you have SC2 filtered out you can't see them despite your right sidebar settings.

what is this Video add at the bottom of the page in the middle. it plays an ad then plays news of mcdonalds or something very annoying at least sound is muted from the start i guess.
Almost makes me want to block ads on this website again but i wont
I do not. I see that enabling it makes it show up. Odd that other off + diablo explicitly on for the sidebar = no diablo. I assumed disabling other would get rid of the non-SC2 related streams/news and such for me, not change my sidebar.

Just noticed something that is a bit counter-intuitive from what you have stated your original intention was. Posts is a larger button and closer than the subscribed threads icon. This promotes using it once you sticky the bar (which there is no reason not to do).
The LoL section disappeared on me again and I checked to make sure I was logged in. What gives? This seems to be a reoccurring thing now when I visit TL. At least the H&F and Mafia is still showing. ._. I think Diablo disappeared too but once I click on other they suddenly appear.

I tried looking around the site to find where to make minor site requests/suggestions (such as adding a css class in a particular place so I could use a local style to avoid spoilers while still having vod links) and this was the closest I could find but isn't actually the right place. Could someone point me in the right direction?
