other than that this seems good (though i wish there were a few opens that didnt cost money to enter but had a smaller prize for those who dont really have $15 to spare to enter a tournament)
I know what you mean. I used the census bureau's boundaries for the US, so it may seem like a lot, I'm pretty sure it balances out. Even looking at the votes on the front page, the NE shows more interest then say, the south. Also, There is still plenty of time to adjust areas if needed, so moving some states to different areas is still viable.
As far as the $15 goes, that price is dropping steadily as I get more and more sponsors involved. I may go so far as to drop the prize pools a bit to ensure it happens, even if we don't get all the sponsors I am talking with.

I think you'd be wise to have a lower entry and prize pool for the first one, just to get people watching and work out kinks. By the way, I messaged you on reddit about helping with Ontario! I'd love to get involved and meet local players. I'm the one who can't understand the difference between bi-monthly and semi-monthly.

If all goes right the entry fee will be dropped completely and yes, that may reduce the overall prize pool. Also, there may be a lot of free product giveaways as well. I did get you msg on reddit and will be responding when I get the chance since I got a list of 21 applications.
To answer the question about bi-monthly/semi-monthly, the evenst would be bi-monthly: tournament 1 in January, tournament 2 February. Repeat.

So I have been doing some thinking, especially about the way map pools are done. Over at the NESC2 website, I'm taking votes on maps to add and drop for season 3, which is starting at the end of this month. The thing is, I kinda like the format for choosing maps that HSC uses. What do you guys think about implementing something like this?
9 maps total, Bo3 player 1 vetos 3 maps player 2 vetos 3 maps
player 1 chooses map 1 loser pics map 2
I really like the concept and can see how it allows the players to get rid of maps they don't want to play completely. I do think it may have a lot of people stuck on the same 3 maps though. I'm asking this because this is as much my league as it is all of yours.

Wtf the Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nunavut region is stupid compared to the others, there will be like 3-5 people from the whole region, just put us with alberta/bc/alaska ffs.

I disagree. Yes, you may have a smaller population to grab from, but I have had multiple job applications from the listings I have put up. Also, if you look at the NSL thread, both Saskatchewan and Manitoba have teams built up to compete. There are 2 cities about the size of Boston in that region, and I was able to get ~22-26 people in New England consistently for LAN tournaments.
Now, I am definitely not saying you are wrong, heck you may be a lot more right than I am and if so, I will gladly redistrict to try and balance things out better. It may come to a point where we combine some US and Canadian areas to get the right population spread. We already did it with Alaska, why not right?

From what I gather, BC and Alberta can't be compared with Manitoba and Saskatchewan, no offense to anyone. BC and Alberta can field 15-20 GMs if everyone were active, I think the prairie provinces may be lucky to field a few.
However, that is just the skill level of these provinces. Both Manitoba and SK seem to have pretty active communities.

Your not the first to make that mistake either. I guess, do to the relatively close posting times for both the NSL and the SPGL you can mix up the two. But we are two separate entities.
NSL- teams with everyone involved SPGL- individual with no pros

BTW, everyone that applied for a position, I sent an email out on Thursday. I have this funny feeling that some peoples mail put it in the spam folder. Please check there. Again, it was on Thursday.

What do you need help with still?

So this will be open to all players? Could a semi pro tean form specifically for this type of tournament? No sponsors or anything just like a clan tag to signify some team unity. I know you say this is a bit off in the distance so there is time to practice. I know a few people in the South who would play, though they don't use TL for anything other than watching streams so I'd be informing them directly. Sounds like a great way for players to get their name out there and open the game to a wider number of people!
