It's all about how the actual user perceives it.

if the person is facing the other way, then hes using that pen to draw not write, try holding a pen that way.
I'm left handed

I just assumed it was because the pen looked better facing this way. It could be left- or right-handed IMO.

No "other" option? I feel left out.

No "other" option? I feel left out. I think "No" should imply that it depends on perspective, which is what I assume "other" would mean to say.

I voted no. I see the pen as being right handed but hey, maybe it's meant to be a neutral pen lol

Who designed the pen icon? Or is it lost in history like some of the other TL icon designs?

In any case, if you're using a fountain pen, you'd angle the nib away from your body; hence we're looking at it face on. So it's still a right handed writer

I hope we reveal everyone who voted in the poll and ban all the non-staff for answering questions

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but it didn't seem feedback thread-worthy : why is there a countdown for the RB thingy on the banner while there's none for other events?

My best guess is Saro who made a lot of the older custom staff icons back in about 2008. But I think the pen as we know it came after his time. Back then, writers were just blue or not. Blue then became recognition for service and the pen tier along with other tiers of staff showed up by around 2010. I did some of the later ones but I certainly did not do the pen. I don't know for certain who did!

I don't know for certain who did! I'd wager it was pachi. Around the time we switched from 'do stuff for tl = blue' to 'blue = tier within staff' pachi was the most active gfx person.
