I would say that if you are a graphic design student (or an aspiring GD student) and you have both the time and desire to give this your all, definitely go for it. The more things that you have in your portfolio that differentiate you from the people you are graduating with the better chance you have of getting a job when you graduate OR getting into a graphic design program.

At the moment the deadline is indefinite; we're gauging the cutoff date on the amount of applications we receive. As for the nature of the time involved, it can range from putting out the graphics for a news post like this every week, to small odds and ends here and there. On average, depending on how involved you get, you're looking at putting anywhere from 1-6 hours weekly. That's an extremely rough estimate. Responsibilities vary based on what you get involved in and how often you are contacted for requests. Personally, my weekly involvement has ranged anywhere from 0 to 20 hours. It can get that onerous. There's no definite availability criterion, but we're looking for people willing and dedicated enough to put work in when it is requested. All this considered, there are no obligations to do anything, except maybe dealing with the guilt of letting down a big cuddly snorlax or... HotBid.
