And then part 3 is where Darwin read Paley and just loved the theory so much he had to come up with one of his own. Comes up with natural selection and thus proved Paley wrong. Everyone goes apeshit (lol) about his theory. Your theory doesn't require the existance of a God! Oh no!! Part 4 We sequence the genome. The discussion is now 100% dead. There is nothing more to talk about.

Stop fooling yourselves. Teaching evolution in schools is the same as advocating atheism. Watch the video above. Dawkins knows that evolution = atheism. That is why religious people want ID taught alongside evolution. You cannot separate science from religion and philosophy. That's a fallacy and a complete misunderstanding of epistemology.

ID shouldnt be taught in schools, because schools are "academic and educational" objects and therefore there is no place for hypothesis without ANY evidence or proof whatsoever. Science should be taught in schools and ID is very opposite of it. On June 15 2011 03:52 Charger wrote: How in the hell is this thread about religion?! Because Anna basically rejected evolution and proposed teaching ID in schools.

That's a fallacy and a complete misunderstanding of epistemology. Just because a religious individual can ignore scientific facts and make a leap of faith doesn't mean it is their religious duty to do so at all times. There is no inherent contradiction, you can believe in God and recognise that evolution and the mechanics by which it works can and have been demonstrated. We don't get this bullshit over gravity, also a scientific theory. There's no campaign to have an invisible strong man pushing things down in proportion to their mass taught alongside gravity, why should there be for evolution.

Therefor evolution does not mean atheism, it doesn't even imply atheism. The only reason people think of atheism when someone mentions evolution is well, it's one of those good old popular arguments atheists like to use against people in favor of religions which do not accept evolution. :Edit: Gogo Anna! Spent all my votes (I think atleast) =D

Yes, but theory doesnt mean hypothesis - gravity is theory also. People seem to misunderstand this difference and then they say "blablba evolution is JUST a theory!!!!".

The current Pope and previous Popes accept evolution http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_and_evolution#Pope_Benedict_XVI_and_today Creationism is a religious theory, but not all religions/Christians need to accept creationism. If atheists/agnostics fight back supporting evolution it still does not make it an atheist ideology. Evolution is not incompatible with all religious, notably Kenneth Miller who argued for evolution in the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District is Catholic. ON TOPIC This is the second to last day of voting right? Get your votes in if you want to support Anna.

You can't separate science from philosophy but religion? Don't embarrass yourself I really wanna vote for anna because she is chill as heck but this is such an important issue why this issue anna its worse than if you were to say zerg have the advantage over protoss

You have to remember that Anna is in a popularity contest, and if she said her (probably) true feelings on the subject she would be offending a large portion of America. This is a no-no for popularity contests! She said that all views should be taught in schools to not offend the hardcore christians that the USA has. Why do you automatically assume these aren't her views? Other Miss U.S.A contestants have come out against creationism so don't give that bull that it's so she doesn't lose votes

Darwin himself considered himself agnostic. Dawkins makes the argument that agnosticism is only a polite version of atheism.
