All group matches are now a best of three because of number of people that showed up. The maps are the MLG maps, you get to these by searching for MLG in the map search function. Loser chooses the next map in the series. Two players from each group will advance into brackets. Good Luck and Have Fun.
Can anyone stop avilo? Winning the past 3 DC LAN's and the past 2 hypercrew lans in Northern Virgina the only lan event avilo has lost in the past 6 months was to wonderbread in the CMSL finals in Maryland in February.

Considering you put me on the list, I don't think you need to to hear from me haha. I will be casting this one and up to the semi finals I will be allowing guest casters. Once we hit the semi/final I prefer it is with people I casted for as I put those on YouTube.
All other games will be vod'd on our JTV Channel, uploading a full days worth of footage would be too much work.

The last few LANs I've talked to various marketing folks for sponsors, they have all asked for pictures and stuff. Which we have like, NONE of. We need to get someone dedicated to pictures / video and they need to not get distracted by SC2 and do it.
Without this stuff we're making it 2x harder to find a really good sponsor. :p

I took a few photos at the first Cyberground LAN. Since then I've either no-showed or decided that the lighting wasn't good enough for non-flash photography and I didn't want to annoy the shit out of anyone with flash. Some people probably don't care about lighting but I guess I just have high standards for my photos Here's the few that turned out from Cyberground 1, though.
ps: last LAN i brought my camera. I didn't use it after much fidgeting with the settings to work with the lighting. However, when I got home the zoom ring on my wide angle was broken and I had to pay $125 to get it fixed Makes no sense because I left it in the corner knowing I wouldn't use it and somehow it broke. Hope none of ya'll tripped on it when going to the drink fridge

I will admit, and I have the top fiber connection Verizon offers, that the webpage takes longer to load with pictures that aren't using the spoilers / TL upload.
For me it's like 0.2 seconds but I can see how people with non-fiber connections can be lamed by it.

only ~40 signups this time, looks like this might be the smallest lan yet? Unless we get that burst of last week signups which has happened in the past.
At least with this few I won't need to premake the groups and split it up into 2 stages, there's 40 PC's at cyberground so everything can get started at the same time which is nice.
Hey lucky do you ever post anything about these lans on reddit? I know they have a decent presence in the DC area. It might boost the player count a little. Though I'd assume there's a fair bit of overlap between this community and that one.

I bring my baller DSLR every time I go, but the lighting at the LAN center is just horrible. Unless there's some kind of afterparty (that isnt at Ill Mee, where the lighting is almost as bad) it's almost not even worth bringing my camera anymore. Hell, last time I bought it, it sat in the corner the entire time, only for me to return home with a broken lens that took $125 to fix

I have an amazing DSLR Camera but lost the charger for the battery. If i can manage to get the batteries charged, I'll bring it.

The top 12 players (determined by a combination of ladder points/past lan results) will get special treatment the rest get to fight through a nightmare as they check in on saturday... lol jk...if enough people show up we will be taking 3 from a group and playing a prelim round before ro16. If groups are smaller (5 or less each) only 2 will advance straight into a ro16.
Also I'm not splitting up the times like in the past (11 and 1) we've been kind of light the past couple lans in the mornings so everyone please arrive at noon! (If 50+ show at once we'd be kind of screwed but I don't think that'll happen)

Yes the "group B has 2 people" fiasco is the main reason for this change. And yes the top players will be bolded on any checkin sheets I print up for saturday. We can do kind of a first come first serve the first top 8 player to checkin gets thrown into Group A etc.
And we can just do what we did last time, post the groups up here and just tell people to check this thread for their matches.

Basically you won't be able to see groups before the day of the event. They're going to be formed as people check in to ensure that there are no groups with only 2 or 3 people in them (and people can get started with their games more quickly)

But guess what? only Torenhire and Luckyfool showed up. Now what?
On this episode of DC LAN day.
Torenhire, Luckyfool, Corrupt, Hooktits all say they will be there. But Corrupt and Hooktits no-show. When I generate brackets, it will be generated with an equal amount in all groups. So I don't make groups with 6 people and then have a group of 6, two groups of 5, one of 4, and so on.
We're doing a new electronic version of Round Robin, as well as brackets, all will be created by me on the morning of the LAN. I'll be logged into SC2, you add me to friends, report wins, use electronic brackets to find out who is your next opponent is.
Once Round Robin is over, it automatically gives me winners of round robin, and rank, and I seed appropriately into a bracket. Then the bracket stages are run exactly like we normally run.
I think this will streamline our process a lot more. And it saves me + others that are helping a lot of walking around the LAN center. Seriously, when I get home after the previous LANs, I can't feel my legs. :p

Well last time were there was a group of 10 people or so who came in with their own set up (TVs and PS3s). I haven't seen anything at the LAN center itself though.

It wasn't just the top 12 from the last lan it's top 4's from the past couple lans+high masters. Hence somebody like squal getting a top 12 spot and muffley being close. at least 2 of the 12 aren't coming anymore though including the #1 seed so you'll prolly be filling in for avilo... ^^

True that, I remember one day there was a draft or something and the big exhaust thing above us was like off or something and smoke was just blowing straight into my face the entire time that day. That was pretty unpleasant lol

Yeah i was supposed to practice for this...but then i played 2v2 for a few hours and then watched streams all last night/this morning. Can't wait to get owned :D

5 stalkers and a zealot arrive to nothing while he only had 1 stalker on his base with warp gate not even close to being done... would have been a ridiculously easy 2-0 gg but instead this 1 pixel of missed vision = gg

Another successful LAN. Thanks to everyone who came and helped out with the tourney Special thanks to GenoZ for his photography skills and Torenhire with his automobile knowledge. Great casters, too!

illusion played well. and what many of the viewers and ppl might not know is I played him in IPL in the afternoon and won 2-0 and he basically just studied those builds and did perfect counters in the semifinals. very smart/good player pretty unknown though (no TLPD yet son, dislike) nothing else to say other than I'm super tired, playing and running these things is so much work....Between the lan and IPL I played like 20+ games in a row. >.< expect a longer post tomorrow about some stuff when I'm more coherent.
I think at one point we were pushing 1100 viewers on the stream too. Right around the time bitbybit was playing eve. I'm sure ipp was watching the numbers more closely than I was so maybe we had more than that at some point (Right before we took a break and NASL came on T_T )

The LAN was a blast. I actually stayed to the every end this time. Congrats Revillusion for playing very well lasting night. Thanks Ipp for having Ayesee and Redmagejr cast with you.
