Small historic note of something that was lost in translation is TL started off as a news and forum site from day one but that the team existed before that.

Also for other members of the site, you can actually find the hierarchy and list of staff members on this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=80495, hidden in the oft overlooked "website feedback" subforum.

The admins and monitors have been very lenient ever since we got word of Starcraft 2. They changed their strict policy and temp-bans are the norm now. If you read half the filth I do I cannot believe how some people get off so easy. I've been banned quite a few times for pointing out halfwit trolls, but what can you do about it. Nothing. It's their house.

It shuts down or discourages a lot of legitimate discussion. To be honest, there's certain players or members I don't criticize, simply because: a) I know they have the freedom to troll me, without reprecussion. b) Other posters will become immediately defensive, misinterpret my comments, and accuse me of trolling or being an idiot for having the audacity of questioning 'a pro'. Sometimes I see another poster raise a legitimate question or criticism about a player, and I think: "The guy has a point, but that's going nowhere very quickly ... ."

If a member was at the site before you, you will consider that member a veteran, even if you and the other member are both new. And if someone came after you, even if both you and the member have been around for years, you'll consider that member a newb.

About the ads issue: maybe TL could use the revenue to sponsor some tournaments. And when I say tournaments I mean some small scale weekly tournaments between the regular TL gamers. All interested would sign in then the TL admin would randomly choose 16 of them. The tournament could be streamed and anyone could volunteer to cast. The winners would win a small money prize. Since the TL community is so spread out, in one week the tournament could be for NA accounts, the next for EU and so on. Well it just an idea.^^ Keep up the excellent work TL!

Seriously though, great interview. It is really nice of Take to have made the interview, both in the sense that it is a massive plug, and also that it is interesting and uplifting. It isn't like it's a wholly infrequent sensation, but things like this make me proud to be a member. On December 13 2010 10:20 Noev wrote: Also i'm really excited to here about this big announcement coming later this month. I'm really hoping it is TSL 3, i gotta say i loved TSL 2 probably one of the most exciting tournaments i have ever watched. At first I was thinking the same thing, but after a minute or two of thought, I think I'd like a longer delay. On one hand, there are so many great tournaments going on, so it makes sense to get TSL out there so it can be the OSL of SC2. On the other hand, I'd personally like the game to stabilize more before TSL gets going again. The whole scene seems inexplicably hectic to me. I guess that's pretty exciting, but I'd also like there to be seriously solid footing what with the norms of the new sport. I feel like people (maybe just me) don't have a good guess as to where things are going with the future of SC2. The more solid the norms the greater the likelihood that TSL will become the dynasty it should be. I'd much prefer regular TL-Attacks or maybe Liquibition for the near future. I got rather off topic there... Props to Take and Zatic.

This is not how it works and it's unfortunate that you think so. As long as you are polite and you have a point you should feel free to post it. Look at this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=167392 No name poster gives his rather unpopular opinion about well known figures. But he does so reasonably and mannerly. Huge crowd of donkeys feels the need to jump all over his post. The donkeys, not the OP, are the ones that got warned/banned. That being said if you criticize a well known poster/player and don't have a point you brought all the flames on you yourself.

My impression is that it's rather a group of high post-count users teaming up on easy pray. Which is probably even worse than a bandwagon since veteran users should know better. We've had such teaming up threads for years. It's probably one of the points where TLs moderation is too forgiving. In general it's hard to moderate posts which by themselves are not ban worthy, but together with many similar ones drown the good posts in a sea of mediocrity.

Alot of the time when a high profile poster makes a comment there are 50 replies whose purpose is to suck up to that poster. The most obvious ones are the red names and rekrul.

Here's the catch: 1. Some people are better at communicating ideas, better speakers, etc. You get the idea. 2. Sometimes they just beat you to the punch, so there isn't much more to be said. This happens more often than not. Why regurgitate something that has already been said, especially if they fall under category one? It's simple logic. I guess it also helps when most of the veterans are well over the age of twenty and have lots of experience. That's my defense at least because I agree with many vets regardless of their color. Great minds are allowed to think alike, although it can get monotonous quick. I for one don't kiss ass. Not even my girlfriend's ass. She can defend herself.

Also, what took from zatic's comments about the bandwagon effect is this: 1) Always disagree with everyone in the community while talking with the community 2) Always agree with everyone in the community while talking with another community IMO it should be the 11th commandment.

Agreed, at any one time I feel as though half the threads in the SC2 forum are completely devoid of any intellectual merit or any interesting discussion points. There have been so many threads which seem to have the only point of helping newbies overcome their fear of laddering and losing, or entire threads made to help one person choose their race. And don't get me wrong I love the GSL, but do we really need 1000 threads per day? There are other good SC2 tournaments in the world.... [/rant] It just frustrates me because I feel there are good threads that posters have spent a lot of time on that go unnoticed amongst the torrid of mediocrity.

If this came across differently it's probably due to the lack of a precise German word for "staff".
