Entrance fee will be 10 per competitor and free for any spectators.

@Lovedrop the venue is much larger than our previous venue which was cramped at times to say the least.

If we get enough competitors it will be 64 man single elimination + hand seeding but if it's 32man we'll do random seeding with double elimination.

I would like to start in the early afternoon but with BYOC events you never know. but check-in will be in the morning.

Unnecessary. Taylor is no match for my new 1 gate FE +1 -> Carriers build. I predict his swift defeat.

so is it full on BYOC? I would like it if I didn't have to bring my monitor and could borrow one from the LAN center, just something extra I don't have to carry.

Yeah the original post says 500. i have to fix that my bad.

The list of participants will be released on the day of the tournament. But there are currently 30 people signed up for the tournament.

But its less than a week now to the tournament day! Start practicing and lets try and get some more people signed up for a larger tournament!

A few questions:

- What's the cutoff date for signing up?

- Do I need to BYOC to attend? To participate in the tournament? (I have a macbook that's capable of running SC2, but there's no way I'm getting anywhere in a competitive event with it.)

- Is it cool to just attend and hang out? :D

1) op says three astro gaming headsets for top competitors + a raffled off one, your detailed prizes only give a headset to #2. what happens / happened to the other headsets?

2) op says it is possible we will have a 64-man tournament. will the prize pool expand if its 64 instead of 32? 64 x10$ each is 640, i am curious where the 340$ goes to after giving out prizes.

3) how will axslav painuser and HDGamer be able to give lessons while competing in the tournament? can you give a more detailed explanation on the lessons or on the tournament format so people can know what to expect from both.

4) if i can't arrive until 11:15-11:30ish, will that be a problem?

sorry for pestering you, but i think these are all reasonable questions.

1. One headset each for 1st and 2nd place. and 1 raffled off.

2. Prize pool will not expand. Being curious is understandable.

3. HDStarcraft or HDGamer will be casting some games as well as competing.

4. The Tournament is scheduled to start at Noon. If you can get there when you get there and have all your equipment set up by the time we're going to start the tournament then it won't be a problem.

moony that doesnt really answer my 2nd or 3rd questions. if prize pool will not expand where will the extra money go? and you didnt really explain how HDGamer will cast, play, and give lessons. the schedule also doesnt say when there would be lessons given. i just dont see how it is possible for someone like HD to give lessons, compete in the tournament, and cast the tournament too o_o

UPDATE

We have had a LOT of sign ups! Thanks!
However, we will only have room to have a 64 man tournament at most. So here's the kicker: tournament participation will be based on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis for competitors. The earlier you sign up, the higher the chance you're guaranteed a spot in the tournament.

Once again, thanks for signing up! Hope to see you all there!

Yeah I'm concerned about that as well, I'm an hour away as well and I don't know if I want to get there and find out I can't play.

How about the first 64 to sign up online have a guaranteed spot if you get there 30 mins before the tourney starts. If you're not there by that time, you forfeit your spot to someone else who is there and was later to sign up?

Also could you post the list of players with priority (if you decide to do this). Spending time to pack up my computer (along with the friends I am coming with) and drive an hour+ and being told I'm not able to play really sucks. I might still come but I wouldn't want to bring my computer if I'm not playing in the tournament.

Hey guys so looks like we got a bunch of people coming from further away.

Here's what i'll do to make it a little fairer: To RESERVE a spot in the tournament a reservation fee will be included. The reservation fee will be $5.00 on top of the $10.00 entrance fee of all competitors. With the reservation you will be guaranteed a spot in the tournament until 11:00 AM PST, 12 December 2010.

How to reserve:

I will be sending everyone an email with a form on it. First 60 people to submit the form and agree to pay the 5$ will have a GUARANTEED spot in the tournament UNTIL 11:00 AM PST on 12 December 2010.

The first 64 people to submit the form and agree will get a confirmation email saying that they have a guaranteed spot in the tournament.

seriously where is all this money going? can you just be upfront if youre going to profit? all roads seem to suggest that youre making money off of this, and it would be much better to at least tell us that youre going to make money off of it rather than playing us on the assumption that all fees are towards necessary fees + prize pool.

i dont mean to be such a prick but seriously, a little more transparency would just put me at ease. at least say, "the extra money is none of your concern stop asking questions."

I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that I'm making a profit off of this or where is said the month is going to the prize pool. I also have never once mentioned anything about he money, so I really don't know what your concern is regarding that part of the event and what uneasiness you feel is.

But I guess you couldn't take the hint and that's my fault for not being explicit. I'm sorry. Now, the extra money is none your concern stop asking questions. Thanks.

On a different note; Lots of people have signed up so make sure you guys all have a spot guaranteed!

so to be sure we get to play in the tourney after bringing all your equipment we have to pay $15 total or we can pay $10 when we are there and take the risk?

Assuming that the stream was working in the first place. ~_~ At least we got it working well for the finals match. Was a fun day all around, at any rate.
