Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion. For regular posters, don't quote the trolls.

It doesn't all have to be a statement; it can just be who you are and what you like to do. I really, really dislike these attitudes of homosexual elitism. (Also, just a note: Drag queens are generally not transgendered, but consider themselves male when not on stage. Drag is a performance art that is intentionally campy and ridiculous.) In short, it's silly to prejudge someone just because they have a certain set of interests and personality traits. I'm not extremely flamboyant, but I do act fairly feminine at times, and I do like Lady Gaga and musical theatre and RuPaul's Drag Race, and I'll be damned if I'm going to stop liking them or stop acting the way I do because some random dude thinks that it makes me too stereotypical. (Also, perhaps most importantly, "I Will Survive" is a fucking great song, and there is no shame in knowing it by heart.) I don't see it as elitism at all. I have some feminine traits, I like some pretty typical gay stuff. That doesn't make it any nicer that people think every gay person is flamboyant as fuck just because tv portrays us as such. If anything behaviour like that shows us that we are different eventhough we're all trying to prove we're all the same and we deserve the same treatment.

The only reason that the terms ended up conflated is because people want to find something to validate their opinions that relationships are one man and one woman, and wouldn't it be great if we could prove the same was true for gays? If you tried to find someone with absolutely no typically male associated traits or typically female associated traits (gender conforming) unless you were being lied to, it'd be exceptionally difficult. As an interesting side note, the idea used to raise the issue in the first place generally results in everyone in any relationship being bi as t heir partner won't be 100% steriotypically male or female. Clearly the concept is stupid, there is no reason to look to conflate gender and orientation.

I'm so sorry if i came off as prejudging - what i meant is that society tends to build stereotypes selectively based on loud behavior, and then people tend to perpetuate these stereotypes unknowingly - and they have every right to do so! Who is at fault here is not the individuals, but the society that tends to create stereotypes by lumping certain selective individuals together and using them as avatars to represent an entire group. My point was that it was unfortunate /that it happens at all/ - perhaps a point that is silly, whimsical and obvious to some - not "STOP EVERYONE. STOP WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING!", because by all means, in fact /please/, be yourselves! The same goes for the drag queen example - yes, i understand they are very different from the transgendered community, but then society tends to lump them together unfortunately, and so stereotypes are created, hence the analogy. I did not mean to offend you and i'm sorry if i did ![]() Also. I'm not a dude. Please be nice to me. Thank you. Ah, sorry then - yeah, the post just came off that way to me. Regardless, it's still a widely held view, and it irritates me quite a bit when people do hold it. And sorry for calling you a dude ![]() On May 21 2011 22:45 platorepublic wrote: Not really. I don't even find Jake that hot. wtf, even a lot of straight guys I know find Jake Gyllenhaal ridiculously good-looking, haha. Also, I liked the movie quite a bit outside of the "hotness."

When I watch movies about body swapping, the first things that comes to mind is "free boobs!" I have no way of relating this to anything so that's why I am asking. does that mean when a straight person masturbates that it turns them off to be touching their own genitals
