Congrats to all the gays here on TL! Equality in usa! I'm not gay myself, but it's still makes me happy to know we are moving in the right direction.

Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion. For regular posters, don't quote the trolls.

It's so frustrating that people are still denied the same rights as others purely based on their sexual preferences, doesn't make any sense.

I attend and help organize the Toronto GayGamers meet and I am one of the only few esport fanatics. Now I have another place to chill on the interwebs to chat.

Let the Gay community have something else, like civil unions I was going to write out a long complex post about how I feel you are wrong and how I would try to get you to see it from the prospective of someone who is gay and wants to get married... but I remembered this was the internet. I doubt you will get to understand what its like to be an after thought when it comes to rights and privileges or really what its like to not be able to visit a partner dying in the hospital because your marriage isn't recognized and if you don't already understand a few words on a TL thread won't change you. So I say "meh" to the whole thing and be thankful I live in Canada ![]()

So I say "meh" to the whole thing and be thankful I live in Canada ![]() -To the warning- I was not trolling. Maintaining the definition of marriage as between man and women is a legitimate position. A position that maybe some don't agree with on TL.net but just the mere mention of it is not a troll. If this is not the right place to voice that opinion, I am 100% sorry. Where on TL.net should I voice it? Because clearly this is a type of conversation about social justice that TL.net is ok with having on its forums.( Tyrannical people censors when they hear things they don't like) -To Drekkonis- Civil unions if properly constructed would give all the same rights and privileges as marriage. The problem is it is a legal quagmire with all the complication that comes forth, so in the name of simplicity most states just amend marriage to include same sex. This band-aid solution also is vexed with complication. The main issue which actually trumps the entire issue is that "States, government or any power should not have the power to police sexuality". It is unconstitutional and a terrible oppression of so many rights, for example the right to pursue happiness. Everyone should have the freedom to express "love" however they so chose, in a manner that makes them happy. BUT am I for the simple redefining what marriage means? NO!

Everyone should have the freedom to express "love" however they so chose, in a manner that makes them happy. BUT am I for the simple redefining what marriage means? NO! Couple of things. 1. This isn't the right place to talk about this issue. It is a sensitive issue and going in this thread....THIS THREAD, of all threads to talk about gay rights.... is about as stupid as going into Harlem to debate whether or not black people should vote. You can look up the variety of discussions already on TL about this issue here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/search.php?q=gay marriage use the fucking search bar. 2. There are entire court cases going on about this, and they argue a hell of a lot better than you nor I will ever be able to articulate. Read up on this: http://metroweekly.com/poliglot/2010/08/04/Perry Trial Decision.pdf 3. Stop shitting up our thread. thank you.

Stop shitting up our thread. thank you. 1- You are 100% right, and I am sorry for putting conversation not wanted in a thread which does not want it. As I already said I was. (Reading comprehension) Only reason I even came here is because I see this thread bumped over and over, in the left. I do not have an ax to grind. I was purely curious and found material being discussed, so I assumed this was the place to do it. (We all know what happens when people assume) 2- Guess what? Maybe we should not speculate on my ability to articulate complicated points. (There is a reason I am in a MA/PHD program for Philosophy) 3-This will be my last post in this thread. Thank you

Trollin'aside, marriage is a union between two people, religion defines it as a man and a woman SOMETIMES. Marriage can easily be defined as two men or two women...don't let religion define how a word should be used, last I checked, there were too many religions in this world with their own opinions. Really shocked that a philosophy major could look at such a simple concept...
