Hi guys,
I'm sorry I couldn't make the other lan this last weekend, I was out of the country. Anyways I know a few really good players itching to play for some money so I'm hosting a tournament.
I would like to host some BYOC ( bring your own computer) tournaments at some point - I know a nice condo party room (though looking into wifi) I'd like to see who'd be ok witht hat, since SC2 has steep requirements. If there isn't such a big crowd I'll host it at YK again.
I'll put 50 dollars of my own money for the prize, as well as add a 5 dollar per player pool if people are interested in paying. I'm sure there are enough people willing to join for a cash prize. I've held some other bigger tournaments before with sponsors like Best Buy and steelseries at UofT before, but for now this will just be a fun get together tournament.
I'd like to see some input from our community, so please posts your interests and ideas.
Everyone is invited to attend regardless of skill level; we'll definitely have dinner and quench our nerd urges; and talk to the pros.

I'm in. Downtown is easier for me. We could do it on campus, but I'm worried about the quality of the wifi.

I'll join if we can get rid of the BYOC. No laptop and no interest in lugging my desktop around

the problem is booking a room on the downtown campus is getting space for a large tournament. I'm usually with a group of players playing on the ryerson campus all the time (i'll make a post about this some time).

I'd definitely come for a prize tournament. Like most others, I'll be gone after the first week of September, so anytime during that first week is good.

OsToJiY when you back to school? I found a cafe dt with a owner into sc, but theres only 10 comps, perhaps a semi BYOC tournament? I know I can bring my laptop/share. Just an idea

Depending on where and when I will come and will be able to pick up people along the way if people desperately need a ride. I can bring my pc and laptop (both can handle sc2 and yes i share as long as your not a rager) if people cant bring their own.

I'd be down if it's after the 8th of september. BYOC isn't a great idea anymore because not just any laptop can run sc2

10 comps might work if you limit the amount of participants. 32 people on 10 comps wouldnt be all that bad >.<

So I'm thinking of september 7th. Sorry for those that can't make it. Seems like around 20 or so people, its not much so we can do it at a cafe.

Talk to Hitretz. He knows a lan in dt that can handle 25 people, and all of their comps already have SC2 installed.

It'd be best on a weekend so people who have work or school can come. Thankfully the lan is at a time when school has started, meaning people who are there during the academic year like me can come. Thanks.
It would be impossible for this to be held at a school's computer lab though right?

I suggest to NOT make the brackets right now, because
-some people on the YES list will still not show up
-some MAYBEs will show up
-some who are NOT at the list will show up.
Based on personal experience, I would just wait on the day of, and then grab the IDs of those who showed up.

I walked into an Internet cafe near bathurst station with everyone playing StarCraft 2, the owner there said he'd love to host a sc2 tournament. Only about 16 computers, but definitely suitable for starcraft 2. I'd still prefer to have a larger place, but if we have only 20 or so players, this is more than fine.

What's the big deal about the date? Lol. It's not like we specifically chose that date just because it had significant meaning, but rather it's the most convenient date for our event.
