What exactly happened here?
Two guys (Loudog and Semih) didn't pay at the LAN, and someone had to pay for them? Is that accurate? Something about the dinner too?
Pretty BM move lol

Mack ‘TAD[nnilf]’ Flinn, I will be telling you where you went horribly wrong with your leadership capabilities for running both a tournament and a team. Please understand, this is not to be condemning nor was this written with hatred. I understand you have already been banned, so if you ever read this post, then I hope you will learn from it.
First off, when you are holding not only your own team but as well as your sponsors who have entrusted you with their name and ability to reach into the community, you have to act 100% professionally. When I was the leader of Revoltados eSports ( www.rev-esports.com ) , I would instantly ban anyone for any poor manners, as well as disrespect for the team and the sponsors. I would reject anyone from joining the team, if they do not act professionally when they are around any eSports atmosphere. This includes their posts on any Starcraft website, any appearances to a live event, and even private messages to anyone. I had even banned a fellow friend of mine, who I had known for years for causing distress for other members.
You are not atop of a pedestal. When you are hosting a tournament in the Washington D.C. greater area where your sponsors are supporting your efforts to get the team’s name out there, and you deliberately steal from the community, what type of image are your sponsors getting? It makes them look retarded for picking such an incompetent team, who is only looking out for themselves. I will be surprised if the team is sponsored within the few weeks to come. So I hereby renounce my membership from ‘The American Dream’ as I refuse to have my name tainted with such a sour taste.
You and ‘Buckets’, of whom you have called, stole the $10+ from the PC Café, $22 from the Ill Mee Buffet restaurant for purposely not paying for your own food. Whoever had paid for you two, I hope good karma comes their way. You have chosen to purposely leave Deja 400 miles away from his hometown, who you graciously drove down to Northern Virginia. You trashed StorrZerg’s house, who allowed you to stay at his place free of charge. You ate his food, drank his alcohol, with only your ill heart in mind.
You complained when we spoke in person for being banned on TeamLiquid for your posts. However, you have to realize TeamLiquid is the largest, and most professional e-Sports website and community in the English Speaking world. Even someone with as little understanding on the idea of professionalism as yourself, should you find it obvious as to why you in this point in time are not a good match for this community. You lie, you steal, and you disrespect those who are happy to help another member of this community.
Until you learn to be gracious of other people and what they offer, I do not believe you are ready to lead a team, host a tournament, or be a part of this community. You have a long and hard road in front of you if you ever want to re-enter this community again. But first off, I hope you have fun trying to clear your own name from the sponsors who graciously gave you support for running ‘The American Dream’ as well as the tournament in the Greater Washington Area. Good luck, and hopefully in a few years you can persuade people to look the other way.

hahahaha, my teamliquid reputation is forever tainted.. whatever shall a man do? You must be joking if you think I stole from storrzerg or anyone for that matter as it is against my morales. Yes we left deja at storr's because he was a dick to us the entire weekend and didn't give kyle ANY gas money for driving 2 hours out of the way to pick him up. As far as professionalism goes, the LAN was run just fine and everyone was content with how it was run. The only "problems" that occurred happened after the LAN so I disband and "professionalism" after I walk out of the door. You all can think what you want it honestly won't affect my life at all or how I sleep tonight, in fact I find it quite funny. Since i'm banned or whatever according to chris, have a nice day everyone :D

Kid, there are 4 of you, its not that hard to stick a bottle in a bag and leave. I accused ALL 4 of you guys for these actions, since you guys are all apart of these recent terrible events.
As for my computer, Next time can you guys at least use cd's to burn music instead of dvds?
and then when you realize you guys fucked up, could you put the dvds in the trash instead of leaving them out on the lawn?

I had a ton of fun and definitely felt like this was a fun event as usual, as the people here are awesome. But some people who were there were the exact opposite of awesome.
I did not like MANY things that happened here.
First of all, the people here don't deserve to be shat on like this, and they are some of the coolest people around. I've been to probably about ten LANs now, and I've never met people who did things like this: 1. Someone didn't pay the entry fee (12 participants, only $220 prize) 2. Semih/Loudog did not pay the LAN center fee ($32) 3. nnilf and Buckets did not pay the dinner fee (?) ($44) 4. Dejavu was left behind 400 miles away and now has to not only pay $100 but take a 15 hour bus trip 5. Storrzerg, who opened his house to everyone, had booze stolen from him, crap downloaded onto his computer
At the LAN I definitely got the general impression that Semih and those people over on the far end of the center were very hostile and not cool. They acted as if they were "above all the nerds" there, which is completely immature (just as stranding someone 400 miles away from home is). Everyone else I've ever met in the SC community has been great in person, and I am surprised that some people would actually pull off this kind of shit.
The people in this area are some of the coolest people I've ever met, and for people to drive in and literally troll in real life... I don't even know what to say. Please guys, at the WCG USA Finals, be prepared for some huge douchebaggery so you guys don't get victimized either by these assholes.
|
Stealing is against your morality, but leaving someone 400 miles away from home and making them drop $100 (and spend 15 hours to get there) isn't? Perhaps you should have asked him for gas money- you know, like any person with decency would attempt. And even if for whatever reason he rejected, you being such an extraordinary beacon of morality could have been the bigger man and just given him a ride.
Also, if you didn't pay for the LAN center or for the food at the buffet, it's not too far-fetched to think you'd steal from Storr as well. Not to mention there was $20 less in the tournament pot than there should have been with 12 players paying entry fees.
I'm guessing your objective was to come to DC and not spend a dime, and for that, at least you've accomplished one of your goals.
|
nnilf, since he hosted the tournament, he did not have to pay an entry fee btw
also if stealing is against your morality then what about ditching dinner and not paying? is this not stealing?

he raped the first two games playing completely standard and even using pure wraiths. then he went protoss, forgot storm, then a glitch occured and let zerglings hit a marine inside the minerals, and lastly, he cancled rax opting for a 14cc thinking he saw 12hatch, but really it was a 12pool, and he only had 1 marine inside the bunker when 10lings came.
series of unfortunate events. he lasted extremely long in all games considering such disadvantages.

nnilf by tainting your reputation on TL you can be sure that sponsors will hear about this, you want to run a pro-clan? need sponsors for that and after this you might have burned alot of bridges
|
I sure haven't heard much from the other side of the story though. Maybe it was just a series of bad coincidences? What did dejavu do that was so bad? What really happened to the money that was not paid when it should have been? Either there was terribly bad luck that day, or someone owes a lot of people some apologies.
|
He didn't really host it, all he did was post a time and place on the forums and everyone else decided to show up. Hosting means he would have been financially involved in finding a place for everyone to play (such as him paying a fee so that there would be a group rate.)
The only thing he really did do was manage a sponsorship with a computer for a prize, and for that reason alone I'm sure the $20 can be forgiven. However, aside from the fact that there were very few players and every person counts, you can't not pay your entry fee and be qualified to win your own prizes if you're a "host," typically.
That's just my opinion though, but its one of the smaller issues involved. More concerned about stranding someone and all the money that wasn't paid for LAN/food.

Can we get an update on what really happened here? Basically 2 guys ditched on LAN fees, 3 guys ditched on dinner and left someone (possibly justifiably) stranded? What about stealing alcohol? Downloading porn?

Yeah, I've really tryed to make sense of all this, but every claim seem like one person's word against another's.

I don't think there's any way to justify stranding someone like that, barring an emergency that required them to drive back right that second. Not giving gas money or "being a dick" isn't grounds for being left 400 miles from home.
The few times I've traveled out of state to share hotel rooms for gaming events with people I've met online, I've had people wait to give me money for their half of the hotel room until last second because they don't' know how to bring up the subject of money when everyone is too busy having fun. Now, if Dejavu (the one left behind) had simply said "fuck you guys I'm not giving you gas money" it might be up for debate, but if he simply didn't get around to it or nobody thought to bring it up during the heat of the tournament or after-party, there's no excuse.
Sadly we'll have to wait another 13 hours to hear from Dejavu on that subject, which is only a testament to how there's no excuse for nnilf and his friends, in my opinion.
|
I feel terrible for Dejavu, such dedication to come out so far and to only get such crap in return. If you're giving someone a ride from 400 miles away, they're putting trust in you that you'll send them back. Even if they are a huge asshole, there is the implicit obligation that you have to send them back. I don't see any reasonable circumstances where it is at all acceptable to ditch someone like that, and I am literally in shock to hear that someone actually pulled such a move.

I didn't go to the LAN, I've gone every week to meet up in the area with the TL people since May. And I can say that this will further my plans to never go to an event that those guys go to lol, what a disgrace. Going around talking like you're the shit, saying you'll beat up everyone from TL when you see them, AFTER you get home from a LAN where you met 20 people from TL, yeah thats really cute lol. Basically scamming out like 100+ dollars between a couple people by not paying for...well....anything.
What a great way to uphold the name of your clan/team/sponsors. el oh fucking el
Not sure if you could define e-thug any more, I wasn't sure if people like this existed in the SC community, seems more like the HoN community.

he didnt rape the first game at all, suppy gg'ed when he first made a mistake because he was freaked out and is an impressionable kid also man, mining out the back with a proxy fac on desti is not standard, neither is 2port wraith,
second game suppy didnt know how to counter pure wraith and retardedly listened to storr telling him to go 4 hat before pool so he got stomped.
third game i dont think he could win even if he had storm...the templar were out too late to decide the gamewinning battle iirc
next game...a glitch? if you looked at the rep you would see that the barracks was landed incorrectly for the cheese dude...if it was 1 hex to the left it would have been tight but it wasnt, zerglings could get into the space easily. and after that he went 2 port again and suppy scouted it by saccing an ovie aeahnd then proceeded to play really really well against it, as he would have done before if he had taken the other game seriously.
last game LS built an ebay on suppy's natural >< and then didnt complete and scouted main with the scv and could have seen 12pool gas, which was suppy's build. also, what happened with the bunker was totally irrelevant to the outcome of the game besides mindgames, the lings did no damage but killing the marines inside the bunker and maybe one on the ramp (tho im pretty sure there were more in bunker). LS lost because he only had one rax for WAY too long and didnt put up a reasonably solid frontal defense on desti, leaving the far side of his nat completely open for lurker runbys and then allowing lurkers to get to his main minerals in ~ the 3rd and 4th drops. he lost about 40scvs, counted kills last night when we watched the rep. if he hadnt taken those hits and actually build decent number of marines he could have come out and won bc suppy was below 80 supply for 95% of the game and won with 84 iirc.
the idea that LS lost because of unfortunate disadvantages shows no respect to suppy.

Agreed. Sure, the money for the LAN center and Buffet, as well as whatever happened at Storrs house (I left the LAN early so I wasn't there) is important, but leaving someone behind is disgracful.
Yes, nnilf, I'm sure he will "get over it" eventually, but you explicitly told everyone to plan ahead in regards to scheduling their trip, to get an extra day off work if they needed it or whatever.
I don't claim to know anything regarding Dejavu's personal life, but he was under the assumption that he would be home by now, when in fact he only just left 2 hours ago. Whatever obligations or plans he had are ruined, and depending on how far his house is from his [i'm assuming bus stop], you're also inconveniencing whoever it is that has to unexpectedly pick him up from there and drive him home, or making him pay for a taxi or whatever.
As I said, I don't pretend to understand the situation he's' been put in, but it's very very serious, and expensive.

its really disrespectful of any one to not pay. last time i got stuck paying an extra $30 for dinner (may have been the resturaunts fault) but still i read about stealing booze and ditching people thats not right but i guess thats what happens when a bunch of complete strangers get together. I can't remember everyones tl id to faces but if its true that people didn't pay and shit shame on them. Its too bad a bunch of people can't get together to enjoy a common interest with others that enjoy the same thing and we gotta worry about these sort of things.
I wanted to thank mack for putting this whole this together as well as luckyfool for his leadership and storr for being so kind as to invite a bunch of strangers back to his house. And a big congrats to Superior wolf for winning and setting up the first ever DC lan and inspiring everyone to get together and play a game that we all enjoy.

LastShadow is banned from this website for a reason. Kamul, please don't use your account as an outlet to argue for someone, even if you are his friend or fan. That's basically circumventing his ban.

all i have to say is this is pretty sad. Some people just have no respect for other people.

It is definitely true that a major part of my win was luck - I barely made it out alive from the group stages and was fortunate enough to get on the side of the bracket that did not have Nick (Lastshadow) or LRM)Semih. Next, Rob getting knocked out by sLiMpower helped me, since I did lose to Rob in the group stages. And finally in the finals, I did have some very fortunate things happen in my favor, such as the ling hitting the marine thing. So no, my win was not completely luck, but a major part of my performance was definitely because of good fortune that day. Although in the last game especially there was also the factor of adrenaline, I played 50-60 apm faster than I normally play in that game, and as I look back on the replay I see a lot of mistakes I made (I was seriously EXTREMELY low economy somewhat all-in-ish the entire game, which is why I basically never passed 80 supply. I don't know why I forgot to make more drones or something o.o) but I was still playing faster than normal which helped my game. It was also fortunate too that Nick hasn't played in a while and didn't have his top mechanics, and that he trained mainly TvP to beat Semih.
If anyone cares to see the rep of the 5th game, it's here http://repdepot.net/replay.php?id=36944 so we can clear up some of the things about that game. It was a 12 pool gas into two hatchery mutalisks, with zergling speed first. I wished I saved the other reps from that day, I think the games I played against everyone were at least fairly entertaining if not extremely intense too (the game on Andromeda vs Slimpower was pretty nice). Definitely regret not saving them and uploading them
Everyone knows I was 2v2 partner with lastshadow last year about this same time, so that's why I refer to him as Nick and whatever since we know each other a bit. He definitely has a very dirty past which is generally the big thing that people think about when they hear his name, but I'm hoping that people at the LAN noticed he wasn't at all like the four people in question in this thread (oh god, I still can't even believe the money thing was on purpose -_-;

As for the booze (capt morgan) it was unopened late on saturday night, (im sure slimpower remembers me bringing it down, and it sat next to his giant fucken bottle of bourbon ) So my "friends that took it" weren't in the house, wrong day (if someone had drank it there would have been an empty bottle too...)
As for my best quote "you can sleep outside"

That's really the kind of commentary that shows what kind of person you are, I don't know who you think you are but this kind of attitude is just totally unpleasant for everyone.
I'm shocked that TL didnt take any action against you yet, no one deserves to be talked like that after saying what they really think.

I saw his name on the automated banlist thread a few hours ago, but it might have been undone pending investigation. Not sure.

And a big congrats to Superior wolf for winning and setting up the first ever DC lan and inspiring everyone to get together and play a game that we all enjoy. you're welcome. glad you had fun bro. That's really the kind of commentary that shows what kind of person you are, I don't know who you think you are but this kind of attitude is just totally unpleasant for everyone. I'm shocked that TL didnt take any action against you yet, no one deserves to be talked like that after saying what they really think.
Not entirely shocking, judging him from his transcripts and general responses just points to clan x17 way of thinking. It's sad that this "kid" as he is so fond of using is given any credit whatsoever to run anything.

On SC2GG, Storr and especially Deja have been both generally nice and involved/good to have around for pretty well ever since they've been there. I definitely feel bad for Deja.
This issue seems ridiculous, and I really feel bad for the two of them. To me, it seems like the people who've done things wrong are brushing off their petty comments and the impression that it doesn't matter if you're rude and a jerk to someone offline. That isn't the case, you're not above common decency, and yeah, they're all going to get removed from SC2GG as well.
The whole thing is awful, and these guys should just man up.
I just realized that my name still has X17 on it, I should get that changed. :/
