I know I've mentioned this in my previous posts, but I do recall PC Laptops hosting an SC/BW tournament and perhaps they would be interested in providing something for GEEX. You mentioned that you've hosted a few smaller SC2 LANs...where were they and what was the organization like? (By this I mean, were you in an internet cafe? BYOC? Prizes? Commentators? etc...) I've been emailing LeGrande to get further information on SC2 at GEEX, so hopefully he could mention this on his podcast and get more people intersted in a LAN party. Also, as an update, I've been trying ALL day to get ahold of gamerzfunk.com to see if they would be willing to host some sort of LAN party, but they haven't been answering at all. I will keep trying over the next couple of days.

Looks pretty good, how much room will there be at GEEX for computers? I will definitely go join this tourney for fun ![]()

I think the tourney set up looks fine, but how do you plan to match up players? Obviously we'd like to see a good final match and with the way Blizzard has their match making features on bnet right now, I'm not sure how accurate it is. I've lost to some Silver players, but then beat good Platinum players. As far as the Phase 1 single elimination goes....Most SC2 games last around 10-20 minutes. Personally, it wouldn't be worth it to me to pack up my computer, monitor, headphones, mouse, keyboard, etc...just to get eliminated 3 minutes into the 1st round to a noob that gets me on some cheez-build-reaper-rush-ftw. I think making it worth the entrants time and money is fair (after all, we are spending $10 to play plus $10/day entrance fee). Obviously if there are over 32 players, there are time restraints and single elimination might be the way to go. This is a 2-day event, right? How much time is allowed for the SC2 tournament? I am also assuming that the first round of games will be played "on the floor" and once the final 4 or final 2 are determined, the games will be played "on the main stage." So, just as a suggestion, IMO, double elimination would be far if it's only BO1. Phase 2 seems fair and would be worth the time/money to play, IMO. As for the 80/20 prize pool, is the 80 just going to 1st place or will there be prizes for 2nd and 3rd place? So, this is just some food for thought and I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. Back to the LAN party we're trying to organize....have we decided on a place? If everyone is cool with the Provo place, let's see how much it would cost for entry fee and what all we need to do to get it reserved. If someone provides me with the phone # I can call up and try to get as much detail as possible. Also, what weekend would be best for everyone? School's out for most college kids now, but are most of you in HS? When does HS get out for summer break?

To all those who are in Provo: I'll be in Provo tomorrow at the BYU campus in the morning for a bit, if you want to meet up briefly, just so say hello, PM me. I think it's much better to just see each others' faces before a LAN party, it definitely makes things less awkward for me.

Gamerz Funk: has 19 computers and is not a very big area. If we do not have a large turn out this would be a good location. Other then that we will have to wait of more info because the employees don't really give out information that helps with setting this up. We got the hours that the owner is available to talk so we will work on that some more. Versus Gaming: has 41 computers with space for more BYOC if it is needed. They offered to close normal business for the day and just host our tournament. So that when you get out of the tournament you can continue playing normal games. In addition to that they also have extra chairs and couches in front of large screen TV's that we could possibly watch matches from. They also offered to help out with keys if people are short on keys. The location has a lot of food places in the same parking lot. Versus gaming is clearly the better place but it is far away for people at U.

Poll: Which would you prefer for phase one of the GEEX tournament? BO3, possibly time limited (9) BO1, unlimited time (3) 12 total votes Your vote: Which would you prefer for phase one of the GEEX tournament? (Vote): BO1, unlimited time So, I've been going back and forth in my head about BO1 and BO3 for the preliminary match. The problem is that we're limited on time. Yeah, we've got 2 days, but even 16 people with double elimination will take 8 or 9 rounds, and if we don't require the time to be limited (I'd rather not have time limits, but I'm willing to do it if that's best), that could be some time. So, I was planning on saving some time by making it BO1, but if you guys are worried about not countering cheese builds, let me know in the poll :D
